Rating: Summary: A book on sport philosophy that makes a difference! Review: This book is a must for those interested in how the discipline of philosophy impacts human movement (sport, dance, exercise, games, and play). Dr. Kretchmar has truly written a 'practical' book on sport philosophy without watering down philosophical concepts or applications. He addresses areas such as: 1) dualism and holism; 2) the values of sport, exercise science and physical education; 3) the significance of games and play; and 4) making sound ethical decisions. I have used the book twice teaching an undergraduate Physical Education course in sport philosophy. It's the best book I've found that articulates philosophical issues within the movement professions AND suggests ways that philosophy can make a difference.
