Summary: terrific and long overdue
Review: Cindy Hirschfeld has done a great job, covering all major areas of the state (including some out-of-the-way escapes for the agoraphobic pooch). Her information is concise and for the most part complete and accurate. One word of caution -- call before simply showing up at lodgings with your pet. I found several entries in Cindy's book where pet policies had changed since publication. Cindy also indicates for each area where emergency and routine veterinary services can be obtained -- a WONDERFUL and thoughtful addition. This book is a must-have guide for anyone planning to travel in Colorado with a furry family member (as my beagles will attest).

Summary: Thank You!
Review: Excellent book, very clear and easy reference. Everything a dog owner needs to know in Colorado, and it is about time!

Summary: 4 - Paws Up!
Review: My three Canines highly rated this book with the one exception that some "dog approved" places have since changed policies accepting our best friend. More travel with pooch books need to be written.

Summary: Great book; needs lodging update
Review: This is an excellent reference for those of you that like to go everywhere with your dog. It really does a good job of talking about the different kinds of trails in Colorado, which are good for hiking, backpacking, mtn. biking, and skiing, as well as which have lots of water for the dogs. I highly recommend it.

Summary: Great book; needs lodging update
Review: We used this book to plan a great spring 2000 dog vacation. The hiking rating system is excellent, as are her other suggestions on what to do. Many of the lodgings, however, had changed hands or policies. Still, we were able to find great places to stay with our dog.

Summary: Dogs and their owners give this guide two "paws up!"
Review: Whether you live in Colorado or are just visiting, if you are a dog owner, you need this guide! With sections such as "Creature Comforts," which describes accommodations that accept dogs, to "Tail-rated Trails," detailing outdoor dog-oriented excursions--including route mileage and difficulty, leash laws, and ideal photo opportunities--Canine Colorado lets you explore the Centennial State from a unique point of view: your dog's. Helpful information on safety tips, emergency phone numbers, doggie daycare services, and doggie-allowed mountain biking and skiing trails is included to make Canine Colorado the most comprehensive doggie-focused guide to the state.
