I know it's safe as a source because Dr. Coleman bases his training suggestions on a strong academic and science background combined with experience working at the highest levels of the game. There are very few sports training books out there that have that sort of foundation. The information can be used by players at any level.
Rating: Summary: Publisher, Performance Conditioning Baseball/Softball Review: Planning (periodization, as it is call by experts) is a basic principle in successful sports conditioning. Athlete/coaches need a plan to systematically develop their athletic skills (strength, power, speed, agility and sport specific endurance) to improve sport skills performance and more importantly, prevent injury. Now, for the first time, a 52 week plan to develop these athletic skills has been mapped out by one of the world's leading expert on baseball conditioning, Gene Coleman of the Houston Astos. This book takes you step-by-step and shows you how to do it. It an invaluable tool and offers great insight into the planning process for optimal conditioning for baseball. If you are serious about a long term commitment to the sport you love, this book will play an important part to your success. -Ken Kontor, Publisher, Performance Conditioning Baseball/Softball
