Summary: Machado review
Review: A very good reference for submissions. But the book covers only submissions. If you want info on positions, escapes, sweeps, etc. this isn't the book for you.

Summary: Machado? Who?
Review: First of all, who's Rigan and why haven't I heard of him in UFC or Pride? This book has nice photographs but who said anything about learning from photographs?

For those of you who are fortunate enough to live nearby Gracie Academy in Torrance CA or up North by Shamrock's Lion's Den... don't even bother with this book.

Summary: leg locks
Review: It has not nice pictures like Gracies' books but some useful techniques which are absent in their books, so it can complement them. In addition, the face of Machado may give you an inspiration for practicing harder, it is like seen Arnold Schwarzenegger and Franco Colombus developping their muscles in some basement without proper lighting, old jeans etc.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: good techniques
Review: It is a very good work but you need some basics of BJJ to understand given techniques. Especially leg locks which are absent in Gracies' books can be found in this one. Quality of the book can be poor in terms of explanations or photos compared to Gracies' books, but Machado's book is a very good supplement for those. Forget about the books of the other authors, purchase Gracies' books and this one.

Summary: Machado? Who?
Review: Okay, really not the best book for learning Brazilian Jiu-jitsu. If you are starting from scratch avoid this book. It is only one sided and focuses mostly on the submissions, but there is much more to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu than submissions. That being said, it's cheap in comparison to other books, and if you already train, or own one of the better books the submissions here can add to your game. ...

Summary: Not the best place to go, but good tid bits here and there.

Summary: A waste of money...
Review: Rigan has produced the worst book I have ever encountered. It has many photos but it is very difficult to decipher whats he is doing from step to step. That along with the rediculously short explanations to accompany them makes studying the techniques almost impossible unless you already have a good grasp on grappling techniques in which case you wouldnt need this book anyway. I myself have written to Rigan expressing how dissapointed I was. Pick up the Gracies book if you want a jiujitsu refrence.

Summary: A Good Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Submissions Reference
Review: Rigan Machado has written a great little book on Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu submissions. The photos are clear and the techniques are sound. I would have given the book 5 stars if there had been more explanations to accompany the photos. Overall, an excellent value for the money.

Summary: Rigan Machado's Book Is AWESOME: A Must Have
Review: Rigan Machado shows why he is respected worldwide as a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu fighter and teacher. This book is clear and concise and will undoubtedly up your ground game. Rigan reveals a host of techniques that are not covered in other grappling books. The section on leg locks is unparalleled. I have read a variety of books on grappling and this one is by far the best. In short, GET THIS BOOK!
