Rating: Summary: The bodybuilding/weightlifting bible for the serious athlete Review: A complete how to "encyclopedia" dedicated to step by step instructions on how to build proper body mass and tone. This book offers comprehensive guidelines and illustrations on how to work each and every bodypart in order to achieve your peak potential. Novice and experts can both benefit from this book since Arnold covers everything from the basics of getting started for the first time to minute details on how to isolate and perfect every muscle group for the advanced bodybuilder or athlete.
Rating: Summary: THE BEST BODYBUILDING BOOK YET Review: A really good book.If you want to know anything about building your body and almost everything about the sport. This is the book to buy.Hence this is the only book you need! Well, the book may not have some information just discovered/found and superstars of the 90s but it is still a worth-reading book. WELL DONE MR.SCHWARZENEGGER!
Rating: Summary: This book is the best body building book on the market. Review: After searching the book stores for a descriptive book on body building and i have finally found one. Arnold know's what he is talking about when it comes to working the body to severe extremes. I have found it useful in the gym. When questions have aroused on how to work a body part,i just flip to a page that specifies on that body part. I am so impressed with the photographs on every page showing a more indepth view of a work. I have brought this book to everyone's attention. If you have not already looked into this book, please do.
Rating: Summary: NBAF rated 'Very Best', must have Review: Another 'Arnold' book - this is a must have for any bodybuilders library. If you buy 1 book this is the one to buy. This book covers everything, training, contest prep, diet, posing, and much more - nothing is left out, this is the bible of bodybuilding. Even if you do not agree with Arnold's training 'style' this is still the best bodybuilding book you will ever own. NBAF 'very best'.
Rating: Summary: Probably the only BB book you'll ever need Review: Arnold delivers a total guide to the various aspects of bodybuilding. From basic training-, nutrition- and psycological principles to the very advanced stages of bodybuilding, his book holds very high standards. It is written in a very comprehencive style, but containes enough detailed information for the reader to really dig into the material. A must!
Rating: Summary: A Must For Any Gym-goer's Library! Review: For excercise info, motivation, and historical content, not many books can beat this one. Although it is light on nutritional advise and supplements, anyone can get Bill Phillip's Supplement book for free, and a good nutrition book as well, to complete the library. Arnold's book shows excercises and routines which will have been accepted as foundational; none of these foo foo 1 workout a week, 1 set per body part business. Just hardcore training. The book is worth its price for the photos alone, let alone the written content. But, enough of my rambling; it's the most dog-eared book on my coffee table. "Nuff said!"

Rating: Summary: Worked for me Review: I am 6'0 and began weight lifting in 07/98 according to princibles in this book while weighing 160. Now in 11/98 I weigh 182 and all of the gain is in muscle mass. Using his princibles of heavy days and concentrating on particular areas I have made vast improvements. For example, in a matter of 4 months my max bench went from 165x3 to 225x3. I do agree with the critics who doubt the sections on nutrition and drugs, remember this book was writen sometime around '84. I believe the exercises and routines still apply, they worked well for me anyway. Besides that, this book has provided me with much needed motivation, nothing like the Arnoldnater to motivate me to get my lazy but to the weight room. May the force be with you!!!
Rating: Summary: A Classic but dated Review: I bought and read this book about ten years ago. I used it to start a weightlifting program. There is alot of good information in this book. However, the book is somewhat dated. As I learned from other serious, competitive body builders, there is too much training advised in this volume. Even people who juice don't train this much - and you don't have to to achieve great results. For example, Dorian Yates trains alot less than what Arnold advises in this book and he was Mr. Olympia for a number of years. Consequently, you better off purchasing a more recently published book.
Rating: Summary: The Ultimate Book for one interested in training their body Review: I have owned this book since it was released around 1988. It details the CORRECT way to perform nearly EVERY excercise involving weights (both freeweights and machines). Arnold explains common mistakes that even the most experienced bodybuilders still make. He dispells many common myths about building muscle. This is definitely the bible of bodybuilding. It has full chapters on every important subject. (dieting, stretching, posing, etc...) If you have never lifted a weight in your life or if you are already in the professional circuit, you can benefit from this book. Now, if only I could find the hardcover version!
