Summary: The FIRST book you should own!
Review: After 16 years of training, this is still my favorite ninjutsu book. The story of how Hayes searched out real ninjutsu and became accepted in what had been a closed system is the heart of its honesty. If you're looking for "How to Kill in 6 Easy Steps", then this is not it. But if you've done the sport arts, the belts, and the ego strokes of other arts (I did) and are looking for the real thing, here's where to start. As his first book after returning from years in Japan, it is not as polished as his later books but it is so honest and you come away with a feeling of his respect for the art and Grandmaster Hatsumi. It's a great read whether you ever train or not and the beginning of the path for those that do.

Summary: I am not really happy with this book.
Review: I expected more from this book.It is not a real ninja book. It's an itroduction and autobiography!! Although it was quite funny but Stephen should be arrested for what he and the ninjas did in Japan. This is his only book that I am displeased with.

Summary: a casual peak into ninjitsu
Review: i have bought this book and read it a few times and still find it entertaining .... yes entertaining , it is not a book of pure philosapy or tequniques it is simpaly a breif account of Mr Hayes training with the grandmaster, one for the casual reader or one thinking to delve deeper into ninpo . IF YOU ALREADY HAVE A FLOURISHING INTREST IN THE MARTIAL ARTS (lil' T.J) THIS IS NOT THE BEST CHOICE FOR YOU

Summary: One of the worst Ninja books EVER
Review: Like all Ninjutsu books by Hayes and Hatsumi, it's TOO watered down. Techniques are weak, as is the system of ninjutsu taught by Hayes and Hatsumi. For REAL ninja techniques, read Ashida Kim's books, most found right here at Amazon.

Summary: Quite simply one of the best book on ninjutsu for beginners.
Review: Regardless of what you are looking for (information, techniques, history) this book delivers it all. Its written in a narrative style by the author as he went on to Japan to be tutored in the art of Ninjutsu, thus effectively creats an onlooker effect for the reader which is quite entertaining. Although a rather modest in pages it effectively delivers its message and surprisingly informative.Quite simply one of the best book on ninjutsu for beginners.

Summary: A marvelous introduction to the world of Ninjutsu
Review: This book is a great introduction to the world of ninjutsu for those not already involved. The book, however, does not contain step by step fighting examples as some of Mr. Hayes' other books do. This book, although different in set-up, is just as valuable, perhaps more so. The book takes your along with Mr. Hayes on his odyssey in search for the last remaining ninja master. It is the details of his experiences training in Japan with Soke Hatsumi. The style of the book is to explain what he went through in his training, but not how to go about doing it. This may be a slight put-off to some people, but for ninjutsu practitioners, or those hoping for a chance to become one, it is a great addition to your library for background history and information. I did find the last several chapters to be particularaly enlightening; those chapters containing the philosophical viewpoints and spiritual outlooks of the ninja. Bravo to Mr. Hayes for this fine piece of work. This book was the first book on the Ninja that I ever purchased, only two years ago, when I was 13. It has become a sort of cornerstone in my martial arts library, and an inspiration to me to keep training every day.

Summary: The truth about Hayes
Review: This book is awful. I don't think I'll ever buy another hayes book again. There's no detail it tells about how ninja were assasins I knew that! It's just a really vague general book so if you know nothing about nin-jitsu then buy it.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Very Good
Review: This book is excellent for the beginner Ninja. It inspired a deep desire to learn everything about this mystical art. This is the basic introduction to everything, so I would recommend starting here.
