Summary: Required reading for the average golfer
Review: Actually, I think this should be required reading for all golfers. Over the years, my mind had overflowed with a multitude of swing thoughts on positioning of the hands, wrists, arms, elbows, ad nauseum. But the late Mr. Knudson discovered and revealed that the golf swing doesn't have to be so complicated and in fact shouldn't be. He says that weight shift and body rotation are what should drive the golf swing with the arms and hands remaining passive. The result is a less complicated and more reliable golf swing. He stated that he shot a score of 67 on 18 holes with this method with his eyes closed for all full swings. It may take a while and a lot of practice before the average golfer could perform such a feat, but I've taken Mr. Knudson's tips to the driving range and have seen promising results. Buy the book and work with it. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised. By the way, I totally agree with the previous reviewer who recommended this book and also recommended Jim Dent's "How to Be Long and Strong" video. The Jim Dent video essentially presents the same principles as Mr. Knudson's book and I have benefited from it as well.

Summary: Interesting read
Review: As a golf instructor I don't believe anyone could use this book to improve their golf very much. It can, however, clear up and eliminate too many thoughts. George repeats himself many times and deals mainly with the feelings he had while playing and working on his swing. Any good instructor will tell you, what you feel you are doing and what you are actuallly doing are often two entirely different things.

I was interested in this book because George was a student of Jimmy Ballard's (see How To Perfect Your Swing). It is an interesting read to see how he translates many of Jimmy's ideas into his own book.

George goes against some of my swing beliefs and therefore Jimmy Ballard's even though he was Jimmy's student for a long time while he was on the tour. And that is the reason I can only give three stars to a book which which may help some confused golfers.

I would like very much to be able to speak with George to clear up some questions I have for him, but tragically, George, one of the all time great ball strikers died at a young age.

If you are a Ballard fan or a Ben Hogan desciple I would recommend this book if you inquisitive to read a tour player's views on the correct technique. And like I said he may clear up your thoughts beacuse he explains things well while keeping his swing mechanics simple.

Summary: Great book
Review: Having read "Golf My Way" (Jack Nicklaus), and "Power Golf" (Ben Hogan), it is clear that the best players ever, in close inspection, share the same fundamentals as described in this book. The difference with The Natural Golf Swing, is that Knudson is able to explain the swing in terms of cause and effect, such that he expresses a very logical theory. As he establishes, once you are setup in balance, and maintaing that balance throughout the swing, then you can't help but have a good, natural swing. The key, though, is following his drills in order to establish your setup so that you can swing free through the ball, towards the target. Once this is established, according to Knudson, the swing will be an uninhibited, free motion, governed by the laws of centrifugal force. A must read.

Summary: This is the Secret to Golf
Review: I am a 3 handicap and this book is the real deal.

As a long time student of Tai Chi, I have leanred that any true strong movement comes from your center (or Dan tien). Althletes that make their strong fluid movements look effortless have mastered this concept. Golf is the exact same way. If your arms are tired, back strained or hands hurt after playing, you are doing something very wrong.

This book is the best I have found that explaines how simple a real golf swing is. Use your center, shift your weight and let you arms, hands and club go along for the ride. This will produce the most solid consistent swing. It is truly that simple. The problem is we try and add to much.

People who diagree dont understand physics.

This book is an excelent introduction into the realities of the golf swing.

That said it is a little "fluffy" and long winded but I challange someone to find a better, more simple way of explaining the secrect to great golf.

Summary: Not what I was expecting
Review: I bought the book because the title said it was about the Natural Golf Swing. While it was Knudson's definition of Natural Golf, it is really his Conventional Golf swing. This is not about Natural Golf.

That said, I read most of the book anyway, and picked up some good information about the mental part of the game. The writing style caused me confusion, because the author says the same thing over and over. At times, I couldn't tell if I was reading the same thing over, or if I did actually turn the page.

Conventional Golfers should find the information useful.

Summary: An Excellent Foudation to Learn the Game!!!
Review: I have been given a lot of advice on my golf game and nothing compares with this book. It confirms what I've always felt about golf, the game doesn't have to be THAT difficult. The theory behind it is sound and the mechanics are easy to understand and apply. This gives you the foundation that you need.

The theory behind the Natural Swing gives you something to build on and allows you to have a steady and solid game for the rest of your life. It's the perfect application of logic to a game that should be fun and enjoyable and not frustrating and painful (physically and emotionally).

Summary: THE ONLY GOLF INSTRUCTIONAL BOOK YOU'LL EVER NEED!
Review: I've read many golf books searching for my swing. Mr. Knudsen's book has helped me find it. It was there all along! As a single digit player and an avid reader who loves technique, I was stunned with simplicity of this book. Now I understand the swing and I would recommend this book to anyone trying to find theirs. It's almost a book on how to live your life and play golf. It has taken the Bagger Vance mumbo jumbo and distilled it so that anyone can understand it. Ben Hogan said that Mr. Knudsen had the best swing of his generation and I believe it. It is to bad that he is not here with us to receive the accolades he richly deserves. While other teachers are locked into complex techniques and trying to make you do things that are next to impossible, this books lets you be the swinger of the golf club the way you were meant to. It has a certain beauty about it that you will not find elsewhere in golf writing. Well, that's about the best review I can gives. I'm off to the range now....happy golfing everone.
