Rating: Summary: The proverbial, once you start you can't put it down, book. Review: A beautiful read, about a beautiful person. Some University in this United States is fortunate enough to be blessed with the greatest "all around" coach in the land. It is hard to imagine it not being Rick Majerus.
Rating: Summary: a great read! ***** Review: A great book about a man and a dream. He just wanted a chance and he got it.In the world of big time college basketball, it is refreshing to see a coach that cares about his players as people rather than just as players. The impact and concern he has for others in unbelievable. A very inspring book.
Rating: Summary: An ego trip for Majerus - an overweight, overrated coach. Review: A pleasent book to read only if you enjoy reading egomaniacs like Majerus espouse how wonderful a coach he is, and all that he has done for those "fortunate" institutions he has coached at. Not recommended.
Rating: Summary: Not only is Majerus a great coach, he's hilarious! Review: After getting this book I could not put it down. I first became aware of Majerus after he led his un-athletic Utah team to the NCAA Final Four in 1998. His press conferences after those games were part basketball pontification and part stand-up comedy routine. His book is a lot like those press conferences: serious about the game he loves, but not afraid to crack a joke at anytime. The stories about his lack of fashion sense and eating habits will leave you doubled over. For "gym rats" everywhere!
Rating: Summary: Very enjoyable reading, heart warming. Review: As a breast cancer survivor, I appreciate Rick Majerus' contributions to breast cancer research through purchases of his book. Not only that, I thoroughly enjoyed his book; so much so that I purchased one for my son to read, because I couldn't part with my copy. The book brings to focus that winning isn't everything and that family, friends, and good experiences are far more important. I appreciated the love he has shown and the respect he has for his immediate family. He is loyal and caring. All this aside, he is also a wonderful coach and friend. He has a strong, yet caring approach to life. He is passionate for the game of basketball, but not to the point that there is no room left for family, friendships and learning. My mother had breast cancer at age 27. She is now 78 years old and beautiful. I'm sure not many survived the ravages of breast cancer at that time, and I remember thinking that my mother would die just as some of my friends' mothers had because of this terrible disease. I was so fortunate, because she taught me how to overcome the fear and embarrassment of going through the same thing. My father was by her side. I was not so lucky. My husband couldn't deal with it, and when I told him what I was faced with, he said, "I can't deal with this. I have a team to coach." I appreciate Rick Majerus taking the time to be supportive of the research needed to rid women of this disease. Thank you for an exceptional book, and also for caring. My two daughters and countless others will benefit from his caring. Life on a napkin, the Runnin' Utes and Rick Majerus has my deepest thanks. May sales soar! And may he continue to coach and teach many young men in the future.
Rating: Summary: "The only thing bigger than his belly is his heart" Review: Far and away the best book I have read in the past year. Coach Majerus' passion for his players will leave you mesmerized. The best part of the book are all the quotes added from former players, friends, coaches, family members,etc...Rick never was much of a great athlete, but he knew the game from an early age and was considered the epitome of a team player. Majerus' stories from his days at Marquette and Ball State to his time with Don Nelson and Del Harris make for a great read. If you like sports and admire the true work of a "team" you will love this book.

Rating: Summary: Pure basketball, pure joy to read Review: If Majerus suffers from egomania, then I wish every college coach was like him. I'm a basketball junkie and the book satisfied my hoops tooth, but it also told a wonderful story about a coach who is true to his sport, his players and himself. Sure he has flaws, and he wasn't afraid to admit them in the book. Highly recommended.
Rating: Summary: Any Ute Fan Will Love This Book! Review: If you are a fan of Utah basketball, it doesn't get any better than this. It made me remember my days at the U, the time I spent at the Huntsman Center cheering for the teams in the early 1990s, and all the emotions I experienced during the teams great run to the championship game last season. Before I read this book, I thought Majerus was a unique/interesting person. After reading this book, I have the utmost respect for the man and his philosophy on life.
Rating: Summary: A "real" book by a true individual - warm and unique Review: If you're wondering if there are any REAL people left in the world, people who are warm, caring, and not afraid to express their opinions and how they feel about people and situations - read this book - even if you aren't a sportsfan! It'll leave you warm and fuzzy, with a knowing that dreams do, in fact come true -
