Summary: Jack's Original Tape
Review: After renting this tape many times over the years, I was happy to find that Amazon.com carries it. I purchased it and at the same time purchased "Golf My Way -- The Full Swing". When they arrived, I found that this tape, "Golf My Way I -- Hitting the Shots" is the original tape that I have rented. I also found that "The Full Swing" is EXCERPTED from this one, so I returned it. It states that plainly on the cover, but that is not clear online. One only needs this one tape. Ordering both is not necessary.

Summary: Learn from the best
Review: I believe when you want to learn something you read the book by the best at that something, whether they're a good teacher/writer or not. In golf, Nicklaus is simply the best. His list of accomplishments is incredible.

In "Golf My Way" he tells you everything you could possibly want to know about his golf swing...why he chose his style, what each body part is doing, what he feels happening, what he wants to happen, what can go wrong, etc. He makes a point to spell out which things he believes EVERY golfer must do and which "optional" things just happen to work for him. He also does a very good job of explaining the cause/effect of push/pull, hooks, slices, tops, etc.

I read it from cover to cover, went to the range and hit balls, read it from cover to cover again, went to the range again and it started to click. I began to feel exactly the feelings he described. Now, when a shot goes awry I usually understand why that happened. My practice feels like it's converging on perfection rather than just pounding away hoping to stumble upon it. This has increased my enthusiasm for the game significantly.

The book is occasionally dry and clumsy because, well...he's a great golfer, not a great writer. However, it's consistent, usually clear, and detailed enough that I found it delivered what I needed. Look elsewhere if you want a pretty write-up of the latest "tip" from some slick writer. But, if you want the low-down from the guy who's been winning a professional tournament every few months since before you were born, this is for you.

I'm sure I'll wind up reading it again.

Summary: EXCELLENT FOR BEGINNERS
Review: I found this video to be most helpful in the beginning stages of my game (before I broke a 100). Nicklaus, does an excellent job of keeping the lessons flowing and easy to understand. I would definitely reccomend this video to the weekend hacker who wants to try video lessons to get a grasp on the fundamentals of a good golf swing.

Summary: It helps, trust me
Review: I ordered this video on here, it helped my game.
It explains,
The Grip, Aiming, Ball Position, The head, Foot Action, The Takeaway, The Backswing, The Downswing, The Follow Thru, Power.
Plus detailed slow motion swings.

I would rate this 5 out of 5 stars.

Summary: Let Jack teach you how to play golf his way.
Review: I picked up this book as a 15 year old kid and its the only form of golf lesson I have ever had. My handicap got down to 7 witin 5 years and then I stopped playing. Ive now started again and im going to read this book again and this time with Jacks help im sure I will get down to 2 or 3. Im not saying it will work for everyone, but, I cant think of many other people I would rather have teach me to play golf.

Summary: Best Ever Golf Instruction Book
Review: I read the 1976 version as I learned the game in 1977, and it gave the most methodical, comprehensive, and intelligent perspective on every aspect of the game of any book I have read since then.

I have had several very well qualified pros since those days and this book provided me with a foundation to make sense of what I was hearing in lessons that followed. My handicap would not have been a 2 unless I had read this book. I am certain that had I continued on the golf team I would have made it to the tour, which I credit to Jack's great insights into the game.

An absolute must for any serious golfer.

Summary: Golf My Way - Helpful but trails off near the end
Review: I read this book with great interest. Soon after, I read Hogan's "Five Lessons . . . ." I found Hogan's book much more helpful. I was disappointed with Nicklaus' cursory review of putting and this probably influences my entire opinion of the book. I did benefit from many things in this book. Right now, I am making much use out of Nicklaus' long irons exercise in which you hit a 9 followed by a 4, an 8 followed by a 3, and a 7 followed by a 2 iron. This exercise helps you realize that you don't have to swing the long irons any faster than the short irons. I'm sure I'll continue to benefit from Jack's advice upon a further perusal.

Summary: A Classic
Review: I recently restarted playing golf after a six year hiatus. I bought this book years ago and after skimming through some more recent books I can say that Jack's book is still the best for beginners learning fundementals. I would also recommend Tiger Wood's book which complements Jack's. Whereas Jack is heavy on explanations and swing theory, Tiger's is heavy on photographs (for those who really need pictures).
