Rating: Summary: An AWESOME book for new coaches Review: A very informative book for new coaches or as a refresher for more established coaches. Covers alot of organizational information regarding cheerleading practices, try-outs and how-to's for starting a new program. I also used this book to inform parents and school board officials on establishing a school program. No coach should be without this book!
Rating: Summary: Great Basic Reference manual Review: As a first year coach, I found this book to be highly resourceful and I refer to it often. From organizing practice to try outs, it also helped to prepare me for some parents' point of views. I would highly recommend this book for everyone's library. When will the sequel be out? I would like to see one on stunts, cheers, competitions & camps, and choreography. Thanks for a great book.
Rating: Summary: great stunts just great for begginer and more Review: basically is a great book for every coach. it will inmediately charge your mind for a real progress in your coaching style. specially, I recognized it as one I hven't read before.
Rating: Summary: for american coaches only Review: I couldn't find much help from this book. However, I'm Swedish and how to start a program here is really different from in the USA. The stunting section was very short. The illustrations to the dancemovements were adequate but sometimes not enough descriptive. There are other books out that will tell you the same things, and more. I recommend "the ultimate guide to cheerleading" by leslie something.
Rating: Summary: This book has almost NO pictures!!!! Review: I didn't actually read this book, but my coach has it and it has hardly any pictures, how is a coach going to teach a team to do stunts and jumps if she can't see how they are supposed to look? and all of the jumps that there are pictures of are not anything really neat, we were looking for some exciting jumps and stunts to do that other teams woulden't be doing in competition, and we didn't even find all of the stunts we already had.
Rating: Summary: This is perfect for beginners as well as long time coaches! Review: I enjoyed this book! I use it with every turn in cheerleading coaching. I have been coaching for the last 11 years and this is one of the best resources that I have come across. I use this for both my All Star Team as well as my Varsity High School Team. This is perfect for the coach or advisor, however I would not suggest this book be viewed by the cheerleaders. This would confused them more than what they are already when any season starts. Coaches get your hands on this one!

Rating: Summary: Coaching Cheerleading Successfully Review: I recommend this book to anyone interested in coaching or advising cheer. One of the best purchases I have ever made, and I bought one for my entire coaching staff. I also run a training website and discussion group and constantly urge my visitors and participants to buy this great resource for coaches of today. A true cheerleading must-have!
Rating: Summary: Great for New and Old Cheerleading Coaches. Review: I thought this book gave great ideas that all cheerleading squads could use. Although I did'nt like that the stunting pictures were all of very basic stunts and that they showed drawings of the jumps instead of real pictures.
Rating: Summary: Great for a first-time coach, but Review: it is limited in terms of pictorial layouts of stunts. And what pictures it does contain of jumps, stretches, and motions are drawings. Personally, I prefer photos of these things which is why I am glad I also own "The Official Cheerleaders" handbook.
Still, this book is a valuable resource to coaches because it covers the elements of leading a group of youngsters, navigating the tangle that is liability protection in this day and age, and gives great ideas for school spirit boosters. It also has terrific examples for time management worksheets.
Definitely a must-have for the new cheering coach, but should not be the only resource on your shelf.
