Rating: Summary: Skims many issues, doesn't seem to know much about many! Review: this book touches on many kinds of chi gung related things. It does not, though, explain in any kind of in-depth manner any thing. The worst part is when she talks about things like how chi gung helps you relate to plants and your pets better. Please don't make the same mistake I did in buying this! Books that I have read and do recommend are: Opening the Energy Gates of Your Body by B. K. Frantzis The Way of Energy by Lam Kam Chuen Chi Kung for Health and Vitality by Wong Kiew Kit
Rating: Summary: Enlightening Insight! Review: This book was very enlightening . The author wrote this in a very unique way, very personal and to the second person which makes it very intimate. This reading was easily absorbed and the graphics make it visual from cover to cover. It covers the meridians and theory in general. Then gives you exercises to help you develop your Chi. Then how to include Chi Gung exercises into your daily actions. It even discusses some things that can be made possible at even higher levels. This book had truly wonderful insight how Chi Gung can help you change your awareness and refurbish your child-like wonder and positive reception for the world just about. All and All a wonderful book!

Rating: Summary: My Favorite Chi Gung Book Review: This is my favorite Chi Gung book. What makes it so good? Several reasons, in no particular order. First is the writing style. I'd best describe it as "friendly" or "intimate". It's more like Lily Carnie is talking to you instead of reading a book. It is written in the second person, which no doubt contributes to that effect. Second is the organization of the book. It seems well suited for reading front-to-back, but is really great for skipping around (which is what I generally do). Third is the material. The book starts with a reasonable (and reasonably readable) discussion of the meridians and theory in general (my least favorite part of any Chi Gung book). The middle part covers various exercises you can use to develop your Chi. I love the selection of still and moving exercises included, but where the book really shines (and what helps set it apart) are the sections on how to incorporate Chi Gung exercises into your daily activities. It's a fairly unique approach, one that really works for me. There are lots of examples here and it's my favorite part of the book. The last section talks about some of the things that are possible at higher levels. It serves pretty good incentive to keep working at it. In short, it's a great book, one I highly recommend.

Rating: Summary: The book lacks depth, has little that's new, is grandiose. Review: This is not a good book. The author does what a lot of disreputable teachers of Qigong and Martial Arts are known to do - present simple, off-the-shelf techniques and make grandiose claims. The exercises shown are mainly basic and familiar breathing techniques and standing meditations. Four or 5 illustrations are dedicated to neck rolls, but difficult, more dangerous techniques like the Grand Circulation are presented without pictures or adequate details. About a third of the book is dedicated to standard new age pap, like "think positive thoughts" and "cultivate patience" and another third to claims that if you practice hard enough, you'll be able to perform astral projection and predict the future. If you're a beginner, I suggest Kumar Frantzis or Da Liu, rather than this book. If you're advanced you probably wouldn't spend time on this book.
Rating: Summary: Another cut-and-paste book! Review: This is so sad! Nowadays everyone writes a book about Qi Gong. There is no original thought in this book, most of the techniques are just copied from others. The author just puts different exercices from different sources together! But you cannot do so! A year ago, I would have recommanded Mantak Chia's books, but Chia has too many techniques, that are too complicated. After reading "China Falun Gong" from Master Li Hongzhi, I believe you should really read "China Falun Gong" first, before buying any other book. Master Li reveals secrets from Heaven that you won't find anywhere else!
Rating: Summary: Amazon deleted my earlier one star review. Review: This is the only book I have read on the subject so I cannot compare it to other ones. It was not written for someone who wants to learn how to use Chi for fighting, it's more for healing, and well being. If you are not sure what to think by all the different reviews, get your library to order it in for you. Then if you like it buy it.

Rating: Summary: Astonishing bad Review: This is the worst book on chi gong that I have ever encountered. It is really more new age fantasy than a book about authentic chi gong. A title that includes "Natural Magick" should provide a clue that you are on a trip to new age fairyland. If you are interested in chi gong, but don't know where to start, I would recommend anything by Lam Kam Chuen or B.K Frantzis. Lam Kam Chuen is especially useful for beginners and his writing is very clear and direct. Frantzis' material is also very good, though not as easy for an absolute beginner to utilize.
