Summary: A Revelation
Review: A beautifully-written book about a subject I've never been interested in. A friend gave it to me after I told him I could never like basketball as much as baseball. Now I'm a fan. Ms. Kaye, please write an entire book about Phil Jackson, who has to be one of the most compelling figures in sports history! Thank you from one formerly-clueless chick for these finely-observed pages.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Keen insight
Review: Ain't No Tomorrow is a remarkably insightful book that reads like a novel. After viewing the past several games the Lakers have played against the Kings, you have to ask how they manage to pull it off. They seem slow, not having a plan. They just are, is a Zen-like Phil Jackson way. But Kaye's absorbing book tells a much more complicated story, about egos and personal conflicts, especially between Shaq and Kobe, as well as unerutilized talent, that allows us to understand the team's unique dynamics.

Summary: Nothing new for real fans
Review: Ain't No Tomorrow offers a unique perspective on the 2000-2001 World Champion L.A.Lakers in that Ms. Kaye is an outsider with very little - if any - previous basketball experience. She develops close relationships with many of the players, coaches, and members of the travelling media. The best aspect of this book is it's commentary on the individual relationships between the players and coaches. From a basketball standpoint, however, it is found wanting. Kaye's basketball terms and descriptions leave much to be desired as she continually uses improper terms and awkward phrases that detract from the flow of the book. A good read for a die-hard Laker fan - but if you're only going to read one Laker book - I'd pick a different one. Lyle Spencer's perhaps.

Review: Elizabeth Kaye's book on the Laker's is great. I am from California and have been a Laker fan for as long as I can remember. I really enjoyed her book and found it to be a great insight to a very complicated and incredible team. I recommend this to basketball and Laker fan's alike. ENJOY!

Summary: Elizabeth Kaye knows nothing about basketball
Review: I don't care if anybody rates this review as helpful, because all I want to convey about this book is the lack of understanding the author posesses. I have read Phil Jackson's new book, Shaq's latest, and several others about the lakers, but this book basically says that Shaq is a big baby who needs to grow up, and Kobe doesn't care about the media--he doesn't care about reputation. Wrong, and wayyyyyy wrong. Kobe makes me sick because of all the publicity stunts he does, and all the attempts he makes at getting the fan's love back. Shaq has matured in his 13 seasons, and Elizabeth Kaye seems like she just wants to meet Kobe in some colorado resort. A good read if you want to see how dense an unexperienced author can be.

Review: I loved Ain't No Tomorrow. I found out things I never knew and not only about the Lakers but players like Allen Iverson and Michael Jordan. It's a great book. There's never been any basketball book like it. Don't miss this one.

Summary: I loved this Book!
Review: I thought this was a well written book that was a great read, especially during the playoffs. I enjoyed the insights into the players, and the long NBA season and the championship title. The book reminded me of Bill Bradley's basketball book from many years ago, because it is both intellectual, analytical and an easy reminder of why "I love this game". This book is a great gift for sports fans on Father's Day! Hope you like it too.

Summary: a terrific basketball book
Review: it is amazing how well written and exciting this book is to read. it is not the usual sports writer type book, but takes you into the personalities of the players, the way the game is played, the anxieties the individuals, professionals all, feel nonetheless. The lakers have won twice, but each time differently and this book brings it all out. there are no dull moments. i would recommend it to both knowledgeable sport fans, novices to basketball, and all who would like a truly insightful look at this sport, this particular team, its great coach, and what turns out to be great individual players playing together as a great team.
