Summary: this book is a never ending vessle of wisdom
Review: A timeless classic that will endure

Summary: What makes a true warrior? Peace!
Review: A wonderfully little books from O'Sensei. Any martial artist should read this book to see that violence and bloodshed is not the true way of the warrior. Peace, understanding, compassion, love, and brotherhood are the keys to being a good person and a true martial artist. It is quite the opposite of The Art of War, but I really can relate and agree with it better.

Summary: This little book hits on aikido's philosophic hot points.
Review: After five years of training I saw this little (literally) book. The almost Haiku way the thoughts are presented are perfect for thinking about aikido, martial arts and life.

Summary: The Bible of Aikido Philosophy
Review: As an Aikido instructor, this book never leaves my pocket. The Art of Peace is a compilation of sayings and concepts taken from O-sensei Morihei Ueshiba himself and gives simple, but profound teachings on all aspects of Aikido training. Much like a compilation of Zen riddles, the teachings of this book take on a new meaning every time they are read and pondered upon. A must have for every true Aikido practitioner. This book trains one to understand the mind and spirit of Aikido. The concepts contained within are timeless.

Summary: This is a small, but "very deep" book
Review: Don't expect a big book with a lot of pages, be aware that this is a small book (Inches: 0.41 x 4.50 x 3.06; Centim: 1.04 x 11.43 x 7.77). However, it contains the inspirational teachings of O-Sensei Morihei Ueshiba, in order to show how the way of the warrior must be: a way of compassion, fearlessness, love and wisdom. This book is recommended for everyone, but it's essential for those who want to practice Aikido as O-Sensei wanted: not as an Art of War, but as an Art of Peace.

Analisis:

Size: Small / Content: Very good / 10 of 10.

Summary: Great teachings from the master of masters
Review: Greetings and Hi to everyone...
This is a great book because it has teachings that help you on your daily practice of the martial art you are learning.
I always look for a teaching to ponder upon before starting to train or before combat practice at the dojo or in a competition.
This book makes you understand that a martial art is not a sport. Although this is the way it is considered now a days.
In addition I recomend the following:
"The Zen Way To The Martial Arts" by Taisen Deshimaru. This book explains in detail why you must practice Zen meditation along with your martial art.
And "Zen In The Martial Arts" by Joe Hyams. This book explains how Zen helps get the mental discipline to control your daily life and also develop your physical expertise. Check out my review on this particular book, there I give a great tip on meditation practice.
Best Regards,
Carlos Garcia

Summary: Not Even Close to Being on Par with Art of War
Review: I don't know what all the hoopla is about but I was greatly disappointed with this book - which was a shock based on all the rave reviews here. As a big fan of the Art of War, I was looking forward to a worthwhile counterpart - instead what I found was a collection of simple, shallow and uninspiring empty phrases.

Summary: Wonderful truth from the "Great Teacher"!
Review: I love this little book and I love O Sensei - "The Great Teacher" as he is known. As a practicing aikidoka I can vouch that all of the things he says are true and very useful both when learning aikido and in everyday life. Its a small book which can be read very quickly but the truths can be absorbed over a life time. It deserves reading over and over.
Makes a great gift! God bless O Sensei.

Summary: A great man explains why we should choose peace
Review: In this little book, the founder of one of the world's most effective martial arts, Aikido, explains the philosophy that led him to take the brutal bone-crunching techniques of juijitsu, the head slicing strokes of Yagyu ryu kenjutsu, and other deadly arts and transform them into gentle, nonviolent ways of resolving conflict. A very worthwhile read. I guarantee you'll learn something.
