Summary: Where's the second edition?!
Review: Baseball Uniforms of the 20th Century is THE definitive reference on baseball uniforms. Nowhere will you find a more complete list illustrating every major league uniform used every single year. Do you know when the Astros introduced their "rainbow" uniforms? What year did the White Sox sport Bermuda shorts? Did you know that the New York Giants once wore plaid uniforms? It's all in this book. I find it odd that this book was written to represent the uniforms of the 20th century seven years before the century's end. This book is crying out for a second edition. There have already been dozens of uniform changes since 1993. Marc Okkonen, I'm beggin' ya. PLEASE!

Summary: Excellent Reference Book
Review: Extremely comprehensive for any baseball historian. Very informative and extremely interesting. Much like everyone else who submitted a review, I would love to see a revised edition of this book - especially with the onslaught of alternate jerseys and sleeve patches.

Summary: Great Source Book on History of the game's apparel
Review: For those of you who cherish the history of baseball, this book is a fantastic journey thru the history of modern uniforms. If you thought the Astros' uniforms of the early eighties were funny looking, just take a look at the Brooklyn uniforms in the early 1900s. Please tell the author that we need an update!!!

Review: Hi. I've read this book, and even thought it ends at 1991, it is the greatest book ever published.

Summary: Okkonen: My Constant Reference
Review: I have been collecting MLB replica/current baseball caps since the late sixties. I guess that makes me a fanatic. I received a postcard from Marc Okkonen a few years ago, and thought his 1991 volume was without sequel. Now I have heard that there is a 1993 revision of this fine book, with corrections. (Baseball lovers need this). I started getting serious about tracing the history of team caps in 1995, so I have a bit of a gap that a "new" Okkonen could help me fill. I have found a few errors in the book; in fact the author said there were some. Where can anyone go to improve and update Okkonen? Until further notice, he is my constant reference for cap styles, a monumental piece of research, which I use "for the love of the game."

Summary: The Only True Reference Book
Review: I purchased the original hardcover edition of this fantastic book in 1991 and the subsequent updated softcover edition in 1993 and found that not only had Mr. Okkonen added the uniform additions from the previous two years but also updated and corrected the earlier edition. Such attention to detail obviously makes this book a must-have for any true baseball fan. The explanations of color usage, choices and changes from 1900 to 1993 are insightful and amazing. Each team's uniforms and historical evolutions are also a great feature. I would love to see an updated 2000 edition. The fact that the first two editions are so hard to come by emphasizes the popularity of the books. So how about it, Marc? An update shouldn't be so difficult; just seven more years. Batting practice jerseys and caps need not be included, just home, away and alternate uniforms to keep all of us who love the grand old game in the know.

Summary: Best book on this subject!
Review: I thought this was an excellent book. I have a copy that I've had for four years now, but it looks more like it's 40 years old, what with all the dog ears, and such. I've gotten so much use out of it. I work at a bookstore, and have been on the lookout for an updated book, but this author doesn't seem to be writing ANYTHING, anymore. I wish he'd realize the potential and release a new version, including all the vast changes have been present since 1993.

Summary: The True Bible for the Uniform Junkie
Review: Just a great review and trip back in time. I have the book in my office at work and everyone enjoys it. My edition ends with the 1991 uniforms. Any chance of an update? (Please!)
