Summary: Re: "Good Idea - Bad Execution's" review of May 29, 1999
Review: I agree with everything you said! I would like to confirm that the writing and/or editing needs improvement at the very least. I was irritated by the confusing phrases and clauses, and poor punctuation. It's hard to make any sense of what he's talking about (sorry).

And thank God I didn't pay full price; I borrowed it from the local library and took it back.

Summary: Good book in conjunction with your local PGA pro
Review: I bought this book based on the other reviews I read here. After reading the book, I wasn't too clear on a couple of points and found a PGA pro whose teaching philosophy resembles Hank Haney's. I already had a pretty sound swing (1 handicap), but felt that my swing wouldn't hold up under pressure. After 1 lesson, I was able to swing more freely with less effort. (The first time out after the lesson, I had 5 drives over 300 yards with my longest being 333!). Am I able to do it every time I go out? No. But my swing is more consistent and I make much more solid contact with my irons, which affects both distance and accuracy. I recommend this book, but also highly recommend taking some lessons from a pro to help you implement the mechanics.

Summary: THE BEST EVER
Review: I have been playing golf for about three years. Until I went to see pro at Hank Haney Golf Ranch at Mckinney, Texas, I stuggled with my swing, putting all the time. It is Mr. Haney's teaching program fixed my game for good. My handycap droped 20 points after I learn from his theory. Now I have a book signed by Mr. Kaney, it is a real bless. Believe me, I have read about 100 books, and I can tell you that this is the only one you need. I highly recommend this book to serious golfers. There so many tips, not many drills like you can find in other books. Some drills I learnd from other books actually ruin my game, totally useless and misleading. If you want to play a good game, follow Mr. Haney. He will lead you there.

Summary: the only golf lesson you'll ever need
Review: I have read many golf instruction books but this one by Hank Haney has to be one of the best. The photographs are very good and illustrate the principles discussed extremely well.I finally found a swing thought that controls my reverse pivot problem that often ruins my drive. The grip and alignment advice helped greatly the first time I went out on the course. If you only read one book on golf instruction, this is the one to buy.

Summary: Good Idea - Bad Execution
Review: I really wanted to like this book.

Hank Haney seems very approachable and down to earth in interviews and guest spots on The Golf Channel. Unfortunately, his new book, The Only Golf Lesson You'll Ever Need, is a bizzare mixture of information with some less than humble self promotion by the author.

Then again what do you expect for : The ONLY Golf Lesson you'll EVER need.

I only hope that the contributing authors did most of the writing. Perhaps Mr. Haney was too busy giving lessons to proofread the manuscript. I'm sure there was pressure to publish this book during the reign of Mark O'Meara as PGA Tour Player of the Year. Unfortuneatly, his ideas are poorly communicated in this work.

Perhaps Mr. Haney is a genius. He has the credentials. He could be the greatest living teacher of all time. He sure implies that in the book.

He comes across in the book as a self made pompous swing guru with poorly organized swing theory based on swing plane.

He has the answers. Too vertical a plane equals slice, too flat equals hook. Fix your plane and fix your swing. Thank you very much.

I hope this book is not an accurate representation of Mr. Haney's teaching style.

Thank God I didn't pay full price.

Summary: Buy This Book!
Review: I think that this book is good for the advance-beginner and up. This is not a teaching book but a solution book. Hank(who I worked for) is one of the most sought out golf professionals in the country. In his book he teaches you how to fix everyday faults in your swing. With this book you should cut several strokes off your game. So if you want to become a better golfer read this book and practice, practice, practice!

Summary: Best of luck with your golf games.
Review: It is my pleasure to be on amazon.com and to be able to first hand tell you about my new golf instructional book "The Only Golf Lesson You'll Ever Need". This book is the result of my life long study of the great game of golf. Without a doubt golf is the hardest game in the world and at times it seems to be the hardest to improve at. I have tried to make the learning process in golf easier by helping you map out a plan for your improvement. In learning golf you are guaranteed results if you have a proper diagnosis and then set about your plan to fix it. In "The Only Golf Lesson You'll Ever Need", I teach you how to become your own best teacher. You can teach yourself if you understand your ball-flight and what your golf swing does to create that ball-flight. I have never seen a golfer who couldn't improve and I am sure that after you read my book, you will have a much clearer idea of your faults and how to go about fixing them. If you have any questions after you have read the book, please feel free to e-mail me and I will be happy to clear up any point that you are still not sure of. Best of luck and I hope you enjoy learning as much as I do teaching.

Summary: Same stuff, different book
Review: This book is strictly average. The information is the same you would find anywhere else. Nothing new. If I had a chance to review this before I bought it, I would not have made this purchase.
