Rating: Summary: In the spirit of terrible sequels... Review: Please, judge this book by it's title. "And the Fans Roared" is not only the worst title I've ever heard of, it turns out to also be one of the worst books as well. From beginning to end this "book" (and I use that term very loosely) was a a great disappointment. Being a sports fan and having received the first Garner book for Christmas last year, I was interested in this follow-up book, initially. Well, all I can say is that after reading it I want those thirty minutes of my life back. The text is one of the poorest examples of writing I've ever had the displeasure of reading. I can compare Mr. Garner's writing style to that of a remedial sixth grader with access to a sports encyclopedia. Even the events themselves seem completely lack-luster compared to the first. In short, this book insulted my intelligence because it's an obvious sequel; a pandering, money grubbing, sell-out attempt at ripping off itself. Well, I say shame on you Joe Garner, shame on you Bob Costas and shame on the publisher for being so blatant. If you have fifty bucks you're dying to spend, buy a real book on sports and not this "roaring" atrocity.
Rating: Summary: JUST A BLAST Review: This was fun. Highly recommended. I think the audio CDs, could be a bit long winded, but other than that, it's great, especially the book, which is beautiful and nicely written.
