This is the story of a normal young man with a hobby that is often considered a waste of time. This book shows how skateboarding is for all walks of life and the young read (at least the one I know) really enjoyed reading it. Thumbs up for this bio.

Yes, it goes back to when he was just a kid with a board hangin' at his side. Ever wonder how Hawk evolved? It's hard to belive that HE was once the youth of the nation who worshiped skaters himself, just like many worship him. Packed with fun, stories, triumphs and biffs, you finally go behind the mind's eye to the history of "The Man-Bird."

Review: Growing up in the late 80s I idolized Tony hawk and the rest of the bones brigade for their amazing skating skills and their seemingly party filled lifestyles. Coming across this autobiography of Tony I was really excited to get a chance to read up and find out what exactly life was like to be a part of such an amazing group of people in such an explosive time in a then burgeoning sport's history. The book enthralled me from start to finish and I finished it in 2 days and then promptly read it a second time, it was that enjoyable. The style it is written in is very free flowing and makes the entire book flow with an energy most biographies lack these days. If you're a tony hawk fan, or a skateboarding fan at all, then you should definitely check this book out and read up on one of the greats of the sport.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Im a fan of Tony Hawk Review: I loved this book because skateboarding is a huge part of my life. I always skateboard with my cousin everyday. This book is really great for skaters if your one of Tony Hawks fans. Also I wish I could meet Tony Hawk so I can learn his neat trick called the 900. So I could be a proskater like him. The part I liked about the book is when he was little. Just about the same age as me and he nailed a bunch of tricks like 540 ollie, 540 kickflip, 50 50 front grind, airwalk a bunch of them. Those are just some of the cool tricks he nails. I can nail the 540 ollie but I can't do the kickflip and im not 2 good at grinding. He is the only one with the 900 no body else has that as a number 1 move, and I think it's the best trick I have ever seen in my life. The 2 types of story elements that Tony used the best were settings and character. The reason I like those 2 elements is because for one this is Tony's book, that he wrote and he is the only main character he wrote about. Because he wrote about his self and the settings were always at half pipes nothing else all he wrote about was his contests and somethings about his family.

Review: I am a big fan of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater for nintendo, and of the X games. I have never been on a skateboard, but I loved this book. It is an honest, colorful, and blunt account of Tony's life. Having grown up in the 80's, I was surprised at how big skateboarding was. I don't remember ever seeing anything about it, there were no skateboarders in my Texas high school. This book is, I think, for all the geeks out there, you know who you are, who were bullied in school. This book says, forget about all the idiots who tell you you are a nerd or geek, do what makes you happy and don't look back.

Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Awesome Book! Review: This is probably my overall favorite book of all time. I've read it fully twice and sometimes go back and read chapters. I learned a lot from this book about what skating was like back in the 80's and all of the changes it has gone through, and I learned a lot of about Tony's life. I highly recommend this book to any skater. I rarely enjoy reading books, but I loved this one. Read it!

I die to watch Tony and the boys on TV. I have become an expert on skaters, my boys are amazed how I can identify all the skaters and their tricks. I read "Hawk - Occupation Skateboarder" and never had so much fun in my life! I laughed and laughed and laughed some more! I cried some and I felt sad a few times. Yet always I had the utmost respect for this boy who became a man right in front of our eyes. This book isn't just about skateboarding. It's about family, friendships, akwardness, itelligence and respect. I have so many pages marked and highlighted in my book you'd think it was a reference guide. This book is entertaining and enjoyable. This man is and was and exceptional student with a wonderful loving and supportive family life. A mother and father that we would all be envious to have. I have told everyone about this book and how much fun I had reading it. I am currently in the process of buying a bunch of these books to give out to my family and friends for Christmas. This book is something everyone shoud read even if you don't skate. I don't skate but I live to watch it and it never ceases to amaze me how these men pull off such incredible manuvers. I have the utmost respect for this man and his family. He is truly an exceptional human being. Buy the book, read the book, laugh yourself silly and feel good. We should all be so lucky to have what this man has worked extremely hard for. Nothing was given to Tony, he earned it all and worked hard for it. When I grow up I want to be a photographer or playstation mom on the Tony Hawk Gigantic Skateboard Tour! Thank you Skaters for giving me such enjoyment!
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: 5 Stars Review: Tony Hawk! You're awesome man! This book is great offering insight into Tony's illustrious life. I hate it when people call Tony a "poser". The people who say that are probably posers themselves. I mean Tony isn't my favorite skater, but he is still a great guy who's done so much for skateboarding. Anyway, this book is a good book to read, the best biography I've ever read. So for you skaters who are trapped inside on a snowy day, pick this book up!
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Fun and easy read! Review: Hawk's autobiography is on par with everything he produces, whether it's Birdhouse, the video games, or his films, it's all good. This is a perfect read for anyone who loves skateboarding, and after finishing the book, you will have even more respect for Tony Hawk than ever before. From being a 'problem child' growing up to finding his true calling as a skater, you will learn more about what makes Tony who he is today. The color photos insert in the book are a plus, as you get to see pictures of him as a kid to a family portrait, and more.
