Summary: Teaches how to think during a round of golf
Review: If you are someone who tries to smoke the driver down the middle on every tee, you NEED this book. Excellent advice on course management and mental/emotional control. Applying his ideas has increased my confidence on the course significantly and lowered my scores by about 3 strokes. It's made golf more fun. An easy read. Recommended.

Summary: It Don't Mean a Thing If You Ain't Got That Swing
Review: If you can't shoot 100 and you think this book will have you breaking 80, you're sadly mistaken. If you're average scores are more in the low 80's this book might help you get to the magic handicap, 0-9. For the most part if mechanics are your problem you should probably just get lessons from a PGA pro.

Summary: Score better with the game you've got!
Review: It's next to impossible to learn to hit a golf ball by reading a book. Fortunately for all of us, this book doesn't attempt to teach you how to swing or putt or anything. Ray Floyd takes a simple, reasonable approach to teach you to score better. It's not fancy, nor would most of us want it to be. It's a straight-forward, easily understood lesson that you can use during your next round. If you want to score better with the game you've got, buy this book. You'll have a distinct advantage over your playing partners.

Summary: Truly a Master's Guide ... a future classic!
Review: Ray Floyd is one of the finest golfers of the past 30 years, and is regarded as one of the best short game players of his generation. This book does not disappoint-- it is a valuable addition to any avid golfer's reference library. Rather than merely focus on swing mechanics, Mr. Floyd provides valuable insights regarding the golfer's mental approach to the game, course management and the scoring shots which comprise the short game. Especially helpful is his analysis of the ten mistakes amateurs make that pros never do. While Ray Floyd has an impressive professional resume, he does not dwell unnecessarily on his many personal accomplishments (unlike, for example, Hale Irwin's Smart Golf), but focuses on the task at hand. Clearly written and well-edited, this book is a keeper-- a future classic.

Summary: Great book to teach the mental side of golf
Review: Ray Floyd's dad taught me how to play competitive golf and his years of teaching wisdom are reflected in Raymond's carrer as well as his book.

Summary: A must for mastering course management!
Review: The knowledge in this book is a must for golfers of all skill levels! The bottom line is scoring...plain and simple! I shoot in the low 80's but with the reading of this book I can break 80 fairly often now! Don't get me wrong this book is not just for the advanced it is also a must for the begginer! Its all about knowing your game and applying it to the course that you are faced with! As easy as this sounds it is amazing just how many of us don't do it!

Summary: took 4 strokes off my game and defeated my opponent
Review: There is nothing I hate worse than slow play, in fact in a recent golf match, I duck hooked 2 balls out of bounds as a result of one of my playing partners lack of golf skills, he some how thaught playing slow would make is game better. In fact I can hit 2 shots OB in the same time it took him to hit his shot down the fairway (life is not fair). Something had to give, and I did not want to risk his freindship, so I purchased rays book for him.------WOW--what a change, he has confidence to get up and hit it, with out going thru a cumbersome routine, and my game has improved also, recently shooting my all time low round of 83. My partners name is is Mr. LoL Bada. I read the book too and loved it, only one thing missing, I do wish Ray could have included a chapter on controlling emotions, fixing high blood pressure, avoiding blowing a gasket, staying cool under pressure......but maybe in the next release. Read the book and you too will be "swinging" like old ray

Summary: Required Reading
Review: This book & Bob Rotella's "Golf Is Not a Game of Perfect" should be required reading for anyone serious about improving their game. His ideas on strategy, how to handle bad shots, & how to prepare yourself mentally are extremely helpful. This book has helped me improve more than any instructional book or lesson ever did. This is not an "instructional" book filled w/pics...this is a glimpse into the mind of a scorer. Highly recommended.

Summary: For golfers who want to take the next step
Review: This is not a book for the beginner but if you have reasonable shotmaking skills this book can help you take the next important step. Until reading this book I had never broken 90 even though I was always shooting in the low 90's. After reading and digesting its contents I not only broke 90 but shot an 84. You see this book doesn't tell you how to swing a golf club, it points you toward strategies for scoring the best with what you've got.

Floyd explains crucial things like focusing only on the shot at hand, making sure you get your tee shot in play, never getting mad or steamed (it only clouds your thinking for the next shot), how the short putt is the most important shot in golf.

If you read this book and think hard on what he is saying this book will lower your score and make golf even more enjoyable.
