Rating: Summary: Don't bother... Review: Although the stories from Walter Payton and the "Cast of Characters" were good, the contributing writing left much to be desired. Walter was the best, he deserved more from his co-author.
Rating: Summary: Never Die Easy ( the Walter Payton autobiography) Review: Being so ignorant of football, I did not even know who Walter Payton was until he died. When I read the book I found how important he was to the football association. It gave a better understanding of his disease that attacked his liver. It told the story of a once unstoppable football player to someone only a fraction his normal size and weigt, but he never lost his faith and continued fighting until his last days in his home with his family. I had no idea how hard it is to find a donor for a liver. Also the medications he had to take and how sick they made him, and also having to have a cathiter placed in his chest to draw blood and for IVs since his veins were so weak. This man touched the lives of millions and even though he was sick he never asked why and made it a vow to never die easy.
Rating: Summary: For any fan of life Review: Even if your not a football fan, it's a great book for any fan of life!
Rating: Summary: The Man Behind The Player Review: Everyone knows about Walter Payton, the hall of fame football player. They know that for years he single handedly carried the Chicago Bears on his back all the while working his way towards becoming the NFLs all time leading rusher. But the fans could not know the man Walter Payton, the father Walter Payton, the man under the football player. This book is made up of thoughts, feelings and quotes of Payton's closest friends and family members as well as himself. It is insightful and emotional. These are people that cared for him deeply and it shows. Beginning with his childhood and progressing to his death, this book covers a lot. It was origionally started as his autobiograhpy but unfortunately he passed away before it's completion. So they added the perspectives of his friends and family, in their own words to round the book out. I remember Walter Payton, the football player, and was a fan. I now know Watler Payton the man, and must say that I am a fan. He was an outstanding individual. Read this book and you will see a refreshing look at a professional athlete and a refreshing look on life and death. Walter Payton is truly a man to remembered. Bottom line - you can't go wrong with this book. Read it an enjoy.

Rating: Summary: Agreement with Smalter & 'Don't Bother' reviews Review: First of all, I am not a football fan, but when I first read about him, I became a fan of Walter Payton. I feel football was the medium for his message and he sent a great message, he was a truly great man. However, I did not feel this book did him justice. He wanted his life to serve as an inspiration to young people and it did, but the book missed the boat. Unfortunately this book will soon be forgotten. I felt like I had to wade through the dross of panegyrics to find some of the nuggets of true value. Someone must be able to write a inspirational book about this inspiring man.
Rating: Summary: A true inspiration to all Review: I consider Walter Payton to be one of my childhood heroes, primarily from his unparalleled feats on the football field and his "Never Die Easy" attitude as a Chicago Bear. This excellently written biography not only reaffirmed my childhood adolation, but added to my perspective of what a truly inspirational human being he was. His tireless efforts in charity, his down to earth charm and genuine love and respect for his fans, his legendary work ethic, his bold business ventures, and especially, his brave fight against the liver condition which claimed his life are all described brilliantly through his own observations as well as those closest to him. In short, this book convinced me that my childhood sports hero will always be an inspiration to me as an adult. I recommend this book and its powerful message to all readers, regardless of your familiarity with Mr. Payton. Thanks for giving so much, Walter, we'll miss you.
Rating: Summary: Sweetness: There Will Never Be Another Review: I found this auto-biography to be very incredible. The insight into who Walter was, beyond what I have always known as a Bears fan, is spectacular. The book reveals more about the man beyond the football legend. Everything this man did resembled who he was and what he wanted to be after leaving the game of football. All the information shared by his teammates, coaches, and those that knew him best, show that his nickname "SWEETNESS" fit him perfectly. I am grateful for all the memories that Walter gave to me as a fan of the Bears and of him especially. There will never be another player, man, individual quite like him again. Thank you to Walter for everything that you have done.

Rating: Summary: Walter Payton "Never die easy" Review: I gave the autobiography of Walter Payton 3 stars because it told a lot about his life and I liked that. It gave things that he said as well as things that others said about him. I liked how they wrote the book. They didnt write it by just giving information about him, they wrote it by what others said about him and what he had to say about a bunch of differnet topics. Over all I think that it was a pretty good book because it can make people want to play football and be like he did.
