Rating: Summary: A BOOK THAT WAS MY INSPIRATION Review: "The Incredible Voyage," as were most of Tristan Jones' books, wan an inspiration that
gave me the fortitude to continue building my own boat and then
to sail the south Pacific and Asian waters. I paid tribute to Tristan by devoting a chapter to
him in my most recent book "At Home In Asia." I was fortunate to have met him later. I was carrying a
copy of the book from Singapore where it was printed to Tristan who was living in Phuket at the time. But I was too late. Tristan had died a few days before. Harold Stephens
Rating: Summary: still drawn to this book 23 years later! fascinating author! Review: a spectacular adventure! Tristan's determination and fortitude enabled him to overcome many obstacles in seizing many firsts in sailing. i met Tristan personally by chance and had an opportunity to go aboard the tiny Sea Dart featured in this book. it was the very first vessel to sail through the panama canal and then go on to sail on the highest body of water in the world in south america. if you appreciate challenge and adventure with a soul this is it!

Rating: Summary: It just keeps getting better Review: I am in the midst of reading the Incredible Voyage and it just keeps getting better and better. Just when I think that Jones has had an adventure which just can not be topped, he immediately has an even more amazing exploit. This book never goes downhill. I am fascinated by his practical ethnology and insights into what makes indigenous cultures tick; along with the similarities that bind the human family together. Combine this with Jones' historical sleuthing and this book leaves you speechless. Not being a sailor, I cannot vouch for his yachting expertise, but that he got managed to get a sailboat up on the Andes and down the world's highest lake speaks for itself. I only wish I had a sailboat berth and a cozy gas lantern to read it by.
Rating: Summary: I've read better Review: I had a rather difficult time reading this one. Not much writting about being at sea. Leaves port one paragragh arrives another. I liked his other books much better.
Rating: Summary: What a Disappointment! Review: I love adventure and exploration stories, and have read many, but this was a real disappointment. Boring! It took me about 2 years to actually finish the book, I had to keep putting it aside because there were so many other more interesting books to read!
Rating: Summary: The most amazing book I have ever read. Review: I read all sorts of books of various genres. This is my favorite book ever. Buy it, read it, pass it on, and then read it again!
Rating: Summary: What a Disappointment! Review: If you are a real sailor, then you must read this book. Here is a guy that puts it all on the line and never gives up in the face of dispair. Every page is a new accomplishment. I have come to love and admire his courage and determination. Through this book he will certainly earn your respect as a true modern day pioneer. A real HERO!!!

Rating: Summary: Tristan Jones is - incredible Review: Incredible Voyage is just one of many incredible books by Tristan Jones. He has the ability to put down on paper the many adventures that made his life, and to put you right there along side of him as he relives them. I met Tristan in Anchorage in the early eighties and he was able to tell his tales just as he wrote them. A truly incredible person and life. All of his books are worth reading - all very enjoyable!
