Summary: Decent book, but most trails need a 4x4...
Review: Good book featuring 300+ pages and 120 different trails. A majority of the trails center around the most notable natural landmarks (i.e. the Grand Canyons, Sedona, Mazatzmal Mtns, etc).. as opposed to the more obsure ones. I agree with the other reviewer (only other as of March 2003) in that so many of these trails require a 4x4 with good clearance to get there. Bummer for a guy like me who drives a Toyota Camry. Also, very few of these hikes fail to mention if it's good or easily accessable for dogs. My whole family enjoys hiking and I know my Rottweiler & Boxer like to explore as much or more than I do. If I had a Jeep or the approprite SUV with 4x4, I could take full advantage of this book.

Summary: Arizona Hiking
Review: This edition has excellent descriptions of about 100 trails in various regions of Arizona. Unfortunately many are not accessible unless you have a high profile 4wd vehicle (unpaved roads). With many areas declared wilderness don't expect any more roads to be paved. Also be aware of U.S. Forest fees that you may have to pay ($5/day) if you park at trail heads.
