Rating: Summary: Has a great deal of value to offer avid cyclists Review: Bicycle Touring Made Easy by recreational bicycling enthusiast Lise Krieger (her first major bike trip was a 1200-mile trek from Victoria, British Columbia to San Francisco, California) is a simple, highly practical guide for cross-country cyclists of all experience levels. Black-and-white photographs illustrate step-by-step instructions on countless useful skills such as how to change a bicycle chain, how to train one's endurance without overtaxing oneself, techniques for safe bike riding in traffic and much more. Especially recommended for beginners, Bicycling Touring Made Easy has a great deal of value to offer avid and experienced cyclists everywhere.
Rating: Summary: Easy to read yet sadly uninformative Review: I purchased the book in an effort to learn more about bike touring and in order to plan a bike tour myself. I had hoped it would offer experienced advise on what distance cycling invloves and how I should prepare. I found the book did very little of this. The author has very little experience touring. Although she can write well, the book offers very little useful information on cycling. I would recomend richard Lovett's The Essential Touring Cyclist. This is in fact extremely informative and interesting.
Rating: Summary: Bicycle Touring Made Easy Review: You can really get a sense of the joy one feels while riding a bike from this book. The author has combined how-to information with enough storytelling to make it an inspiration to anyone wishing to ride. The author includes important, yet understandable information for the neophyte rider and pointers for even the veteran tourer. Even if you are not planning a tour, per se, the book is great for people interested in getting into riding just for fun. Much less technical than most racing books out there, this is a great book for anyone wishing to start riding or start touring.
