Rating: Summary: A great book for campers and hikers of all experience levels Review: This book contains not only a variety of recipes but half the book is dedicated to valuable information on grocery shopping, food preparation, meal planning, equipment, cooking techniques, etc. Carole Latimer, author and "offical cook on the Call of Wilderness trips" has no qualms about listing the best brands of foods to purchase. Carole strongly believes that you CAN eat delicious meals in the wild (your meals don't have to all be prepackaged, freeze-dried). It is obvious in her writings that being in the outdoors is food for the soul and food for the body should enhance that experience. "The physical, psychological, and spiritual benefits of good food to a wilderness party can hardly be overestimated." This was exactly the kind of book I needed to boost my confidence in taking my family of five tent camping this summer!
