Rating: Summary: Develop a new appreciation for you & raft the Grand Canyon Review: "Greetings, and welcome to the Grand Canyon". This is how I greet my passengers as they step off their air conditioned van at Lees Ferry. At that moment, I know their lives are about to change, for the good of course. The same is true as you journey through my book, "Dancing on the Edge". My intention for writing "Dancing on the Edge" is two fold. First, to provide an adventurous journey through a truly spectacular place that will be life changing for you. As you read the book, you will discover many gems - awareness and ideas - meaningful for you. My second intention is to provide for you a vivid word picture of the physical reality of this unparalleled natural wonder so that you feel like you're actually there, in the Grand Canyon. What stimulated the writing of "Dancing" occurred in 1998, in July. I was diagnosed with a cataract in my left eye. Surprised because I thought I was too young for such a thing, I looked for answers. In Louise Hay's book, "You Can Heal Your Life", cataracts are said to represent not being focused or clear. I decided to go on my next Grand Canyon trip, which was in a few days, with the intention of gaining clarity on what my passion for this place is. I crafted a question. "What are the gifts people receive from their time in the Canyon?" As I thought and observed during that next trip, I realized some of the most significant gifts involved learning to be in deeper relationship with oneself, with others, with the Earth, and with Spirit. "Hey! That's four books!" I thought out loud (I do that a lot - think out loud. Gets me in trouble at times }:O)). So "Dancing on the Edge" is the first book in the series, and it is about coming into a deeper relationship with oneself. You will find it an adventurous way to learn more about you. Along the way you will come to know more about the Grand Canyon and meet Spirit Dancer, a medicine woman who uses teachings from her Native American tradition to teach me about me, and you about you. I wish you an enjoyable journey to places you have never been, and a new found appreciation of who you are. Feel free to let me know what you think of the book or ask clarifying questions.
Rating: Summary: The author spoke directly from his heart to mine! Review: All of us share this journey, different life experiences, but a common bond. Charly Heavenrich has captured many rich emotions and this book swept me up in it's embrace, much as I'm sure his beloved river captivated him. I have learned from Charly Heavenrich, and his "Spirit Dancer".
Rating: Summary: I have found my "Power Spot" in Dancing on the Edge. Review: I purposely took a long time to read Dancing on the Edge. Partly because I didn't want to leave this wonderful, serene place and partly because I wanted to enjoy and digest every savory bite. I've underlined SO MUCH and I will keep this book close by to help remind me of its many fantastic life lessons. Charly, thank you for sharing your gift with us.
Rating: Summary: Insight in magnificent setting Review: I was enthralled by Dancing on the Edge. The author managed to combine gripping descriptions of exciting experiences and magnificent scenery with deep and meaningful insights into the human spirit. I do not read "inspirational" books. I find most of them shallow and dull. This one not only inspired, it enchanted. I will read it again and again.
Rating: Summary: An inner-outer journey! Review: Most of us would think of trekking through the Grand Canyon to be an outer journey. Charly brings it one step further by exploring the Canyon as an outer *and* inner journey. Be prepared for the unavoidable inspiration to experience the Canyon for yourself after reading this book!
Rating: Summary: This is as magic as the Canyon itself! Review: The author has a compelling style that makes you feel part of his journey. I am richer in the spirit because of you, Charly Heavenrich!
