Summary: The only book I remember from elementary school.
Review: I grew up in rural southern West Virginia in a town that borders the New River. The river always fascinated me, and where it could take me or a homemade boat fascinated me all the more, When I read this book in second grade, it lit an unimaginable sense of adventure in me and led me to carve my own boat and drop it in the river. That was in 1967. I never got a response from anyone if it was ever found, but to this day I still hope to come home from my overseas journeys and find a letter from someone who found my childhood homage to "Paddle to the Sea". I am buying this book now for my first child, Grace, in hopes that she finds it as thrilling an adventure as I did

Review: I just read a great book called Paddle-to-the-Sea. First, he started in Nipigon and traveled through the Great Lakes and went to the sea. If you like adventures, I recommend reading the book Paddle-to-the-Sea.

Summary: Wonderful Book For All Ages
Review: I loved Paddle-to-the Sea. Absolutely charming in the best sense of that word. It had a very strong sense of an uncomplicated America as well, which was a nice respite from the terribly complicated world we live in now. Most of all, it is about all the things we hold dear in our youth...adventure, goodness, helping one another, the country, the animals, the forests, ships, triumph and most of all the grand things one small individual can set in motion.

Review: I read "Paddle to the Sea" as a young girl and havebeen in love with the story ever since. Rich in information about theGreat Lakes and beautifully illustrated it should be a must read forall grade school children in and around the Great Lakes. I have felt that for over 40 yrs. People will ask me how I know so much about the Great Lakes. I just smile and think of "Paddle".

Summary: A true childhood classic
Review: I read my husband's worn copy of Paddle-To-The-Sea to my children, then to grandchildren. It's faded, dog-eared, worn at the edges and a little tattered, but it'll survive another generation of loving use, I'm sure. One of the true childhood classics, Paddle-To-The-Sea is a rare entity: a cross genre book for kids. The story of the little carved Native American canoe's trip from the North Country to the Sea is an adventure story, a geography lesson, a history lesson, and in some ways, it's even a romance. There are wonderful drawings, accurate maps - and an utterly engaging story. It's worth finding a copy in hardcover to buy, because you're going to want it to last as long as my husband's copy has, for sure, for sure.

Summary: This book was So-So.
Review: I read Paddle-to-the-Sea with my 4th grade class. I didn't like the book as much as I thought I would. We did fun projects with Paddle-to-the-Sea. At home we had to make a board game using Paddle-to-the-Sea. That was my favorite project with Paddle. I didn't think this book kept my intrest that much. Sometimes while reading this book I felt as if I would fall asleep. If you've read Paddle or any other Holling C. Holling books, good. If you didn't read some. I also saw the movie Paddle in class. It stunk! The book was much better. Try reading the book and watching the movie and doing a comparsion. We did. Bye! And try to read Paddle. Maybe order it from amazon.
