Summary: A "how-to" guide from a grand storyteller
Review: Gierach gives a nut & bolts guide to flyfishing small water. While he doesn't spend much time spinning fishing tales, he does offer an extensive discussion of how he fly fishes - offering insight into the skills that he's built up on all those adventures he's told of in some of his more recent books

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: How to think about fishing
Review: Gierach is very good at describing the mindset of fishing, and this book is a very good example. There is technical information and practical advice, to be sure, but the most valuable parts of the book are the descriptions of how to think, act, and feel about approach fish on a small stream. And of course, Gierach is a very entertaining writer.

Summary: Just a little more technical than the normal "BUM"
Review: Not as light hearted, but, a very informative read

Summary: fun reading
Review: This is the first of John's books that I have read. He has an easy going way of expressing himself. As I read this book it is almost like being there. One of the most enjoyable books I'v ever read. Looking foward to reading his others.

Summary: My least favorite of all of his books.
Review: While I have been enamored with most of his other narratives , this book read as if it was thrown together and was not as light-hearted or enjoyable. Prefer Sex, Death, and Flyfishing above all
