Summary: Want to hear from a hero.....
Review: ...... then read this book. Want to become a literary pedant then read 100 pages and sign on here to complain. True Pete Goss is not one of the greatest writers in history but that is not why I wanted to read the book!

This a moving description of what it felt like to be part of lifes great adventures, written with true feeling and humility.

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: Gybe or tack?
Review: A great story of adventure, as the author describes his voyages around the world in several premier yacht races. Of course, the author did not chose a literary profession as a career, but never the less, he does a good job of describing in exciting detail the struggles and achievements of his life long obsession with some of the most challenging sailing events in the world.

Summary: Great book written by a real Hero
Review: A great story that keeps your attention. The "Into Thin Air" of sailing. The only negative is that you can tell Goss is a professional sailor not a professional writer.

Summary: Ideal for any sailor
Review: Any sailor, novice or expert will love this tale of an extremely brave hero. Take it on the boat with you and read it aloud!

Summary: Great Frigging Story!
Review: Goss is the real deal. A real-life hero. ...Both for what he has done for others and what he has accomplished for himself. Through Goss you'll get a glimpse of the kind of real-life tenacity and spirit it takes just to get to the starting line (let alone finish) of a challenge larger than most of us will ever choose to face. If you're looking to experience an exciting story about a yacht race you've missed the boat...they left in '96. Read this book, maybe you'll do something worth writing about yourself! A GREAT INSPIRATION.

Summary: A Sailor's Sailor
Review: Having ridden Destroyers for the US Navy for twenty years and cruising the Caribbean for the last three, I can say this is the definitive sailor's story. Truly inspirational. This book belongs in any boats library with Fastnet Force 10, Fatal Storm and A Hungry Ocean.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Exciting adventure story
Review: I couldn't put this book down. I kept reading passages to my husband who wants to read it and give it to several friends. Pete Goss's style is breezy and conversational and it is clear that true adventurers are a breed apart. This is a great read.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Surprisingly good. An unexpected page turner.
Review: I didn't really expect to enjoy this book, not knowing much about sailing, but I couldn't put it down. Definitely worth reading.
