Summary: thanks!
Review: As a transplanted Montanan, I don't trust much advice on hiking in Arizona. I thank you for the Favorite Hikes book. I used to hike in the Glacier and Bozeman area but have been out of the action for a few years since moving to Flagstaff and having a baby. I have found this guide to be accurate and reliable when planning hikes with my son and/or dog. Thanks again. Buying this book is the best 10 bucks I ever spent.

Summary: Makes hiking fun!
Review: Cosmic Ray is a fun guy. You get the feeling he could make anything sound interesting. Lucky you! He chose to publish his favorite hikes in the Flagstaff - Sedona region! Trail maps are wacky. Most certainly fun to look at, just keep in mind they're not 100% accurate. Each trail includes information such as distance, time, effort and such. I've hiked all the Sedona trails listed. It kind of surprised me to find out Marg's Draw would make anybody's list of favorite trails. Then again that's my personal opinion. It's still a cool book. I've used the book on several outings to the area. The elevation profiles are rough but very much appreciated! This is a nice book to get you interested in hiking.

Summary: Do one for Scotland!
Review: I love Cosmic Ray's guidebook to Flagstaff and Sedona hiking. I found the directions to the trailhead to be accurate and easy to find. The contour profiles made it easy to pick our hikes before we left home. His descriptions are humorous, accurate and helpful. He does not list ALL the hikes in the Flag-Sedona area as there are hundreds, but choses to stick to the 50 best of the best. I wish he would come to Scotland and publish one for here!

Summary: Favorite Hikes: Flagstaff & Sedona by Cosmic Ray
Review: Just got back from Arizona- and we used this book extensively as it was easy to read, the maps accurate, and the book is quite entertaining. My 6 year old son stated that the Lava River Cave trail "changed his life" (in a good way). The trail trips turned out to be the highlight of our trip!! The authors advise is excellent and the designation of level of difficulty is on target.

Summary: Fun, accurate and easy to use.
Review: The highlight of our Arizona vacation was using Cosmic Ray's guide to Sedona and Flagstaff. He sent us in the right direction at every turn. Each hike was a winner. We tried six of them and each was better than the one before, from the top of the San Francisco Peaks to the red rock of Oak Creek Canyon. This little guide gives the low down on only the best of the best hikes in the area, about 50 in all. You can choose the level of difficulty. Ray includes a semi-humorous verbal description for each hike, contour profile, distance, time, elevation gain and an easy to comprehend cartoony map. He also includes hiking directions to some of Sedona's vortex sites and a "critter foot finder" that helps identify paw and hoof prints found on the trail. Great little book.
