Review: It just so happens that the person on the cover of this book is in fact riding a SKIMBOARD, not a surfboard. I just find it rather amusing that the cover of a surfing book displays a skimboarder and assumes it is a surfer. Alot of people don't know about wave-riding skimboarding, so I guess that explains it. But I do find it amusing.

Review: Learn to surf is the most comprehansive, yet simplest "teach yourself" how to surf book. It is packed with many fantastic tips that would make a competent surfer out of anyone. After I read this book, I took to the waves and haven't since looked back. This book helped me bring forth the passion of the waves in me and I feel a much more complete person for it. The book is best used in conjunction with live surfing tuition to get the best results. I am now a fully trained surfing instructor working in Newquay, and I believe it is this book that helped me get there. If any of you aot there want to get into surfing, this is the book for you!!

Summary: for people who know zero about surfing
Review: This book covers some areas well such as technique, and the dangers of surfing. But it left me with many questions, almost as if this were half a book. This book is for people who have never seen a surfboard in their life.

Summary: Learn to Surf
Review: This book gives up the basic technics on surfing. Mr. MacLaren gives simple step by step instructions on how to position yourself in the board, to buy perfect surfboard for you and paddle the perfect waves. The only thing he can't do with this book is to tell you which is the perfect wave in the really life. I recommend this book, for all of us who wanted to know how to do this and really couldn't find anyone that can teach.

Review: This book is for the absolute beginner. It teaches you step by step how to get started if you are just beginning. It did provide some nice tips on proper paddling and positioning. Give it a quick read and just go out and do it. I didn't think all the beginning steps (jumping into white water, riding on your knees, etc.) were necessary. Just do what feels right. It's a good book for the right audience though.

Summary: A must for a beginning surfer, more of a survival guide.
Review: This is a great book to learn in depth about surfing, I have been surfing since I was 6 and I wish that I had a book to teach me all of the things that I learned the hard way. This book is a survival guide, It teaches you about waves, form and how to identify rip tides and other things that can end your day of surfing and your life. If you are considering learning to to surf, you can't afford not to read this book.
