Review: A good book for beginners, although you have to be good at following pictures. Not recommended for the more advanced nunchaku artist. Thinner than I expected.

Review: Demura does an excellent job of explaining basic techniques and applications for each, expecially for those with a decent martial arts background. Between looking at the pictures and reading the explainations I was able to figure out every technique demonstrated. The only downside was that he didn't include a kata in the book.

Review: Fumio Demura has presented us once again with a solid and superb text on this classical Karate weapon. The text is full of clear and precise photos and detailed explanantions of the basics. Sensei Demura covers the history, basic stances,strikes and blocks of this fascinating weapon. Also covered is a range of defensive techniques against the empty hand and various weapons.This book is a must for the beginner of Karate and Weaponry and even experienced Martial Artists should give it a consider.

Review: The first step to become better is discipline and visualization.This book it is a very good visual guide to perform exercises to get beginner-intermediate domain on this ancient weapon.It developes an open mind trhough practice realizing numchaku as a natural extension of the body. The creativity is in you, here you have the first steps.

Review: The pictures could not be easier to follow, the clarificatons and applications of each strike, swing, block or movement are nicely explained and demonstrated. Also the self defence application section is a great way to remain motivated. A beginners' form would be sweet to have. But its a great buy. And yes, I think you must have some martial art experience before you pick up this book.

Review: This book is an excellent source for students who have never held nunchaku. (Though I do recommend having an instructor teach you the basics). A great value when I bought it in 1971.
