Summary: STOP! Don't Get This Book!!
Review: As I was looking through the pages of this book, it had absolutely nothing to do with ramp building. It taught you nothing, described nothing, and worse of all, it didn't even had detailed instructions. Please listen to me, and do not buy this ramp building book, it is a waste of money, and a waste of your time.

Summary: It won't make you a journeyman, But it is very helpful
Review: If you are a first time ramp builder, this little booklet is a must read! Too many mistakes are made by newbies when it comes to ramp building (I've made my share). But now that I'm an experienced ramp builder, I find that looking through this book (takes about an hour and a half to review the whole thing), I learn more and more useful info each time. A warning is necessary. This book will not provide you with everything you need to know. It's not written in a "Book for Dummies" manner. It assumes basic knowledge of some contruction terms. I suggest that you also consider the companion Video that Thrasher puts out. The combination of the two will give you what you need to get a good start on ramps. You best teacher will be experience. Start small with some launch ramps and quarter pipes, then progress to the mini-ramps and halfpipes. You'll learn as you go! Good luck and have fun

Summary: Too general
Review: The booklet gives general principles of skateboard ramp design and construction but is VERY short on specifics. So unless you are either only interested in simple launch ramps, experienced at designing outdoor wooden structures, can find a completed ramp you can carefully measure and copy, or want to build the 6-foot vertical ramp which is the only transition plan illustrated in the book, don't bother with this. My son wants to build a 4-foot halfpipe. The critical aspect is the transition, and the book tells you how to draw a curve on wood, but not what the curve should be, except for the 6-foot vertical ramp. When you come to the section on half pipes all it tells you is that half pipes are similar to vertical ramps! I finally bought a set of plans from Whitefish Skate Ramp Co. on the Internet -- for $$ you get a detailed booklet of instructions for exactly the size ramp you want to build with step-by-step plans, materials lists and a full-size plan of the transition on blue print paper you can trace onto plywood. The proprietor will also answer questions on the phone. Our halfpipe is partially completed and going smoothly so far.
