Rating: Summary: The last book to read before planning your own thru-hike. Review: This book is a quick read. Ryan does not waste words. Each sentence is no nonsense advice on distance hiking. Topics include - pack weight, isolation, gear, food, who quits and who does not, psycological needs of younger hikers vs. older hikers. One thing this book had that others did not - a section at the end that takes you on a walkthrough of the AT from GA->Ma and what it is like for you - Mentally. Just this part alone is worth purchasing the book.
