Rating: Summary: Sage Advice from The Blonde Bomber Review: This book is filled with good nutritional advice and workout strategies by one of the long time stalwarts of bodybuilding. Dave's journey through bodybuilding and his experiences are well worth the read.Dave's love of the sport and personal modesty shine through.I trained at the original Golds Gym, when Dave was at his best. With that massive back and monster forearms, he was a sight to behold. I wish he would have written this book 25 years ago!
Rating: Summary: The best bodybuilding book there is. Review: This is the book I wish I had when I started weighttraining/bodybuilding 16 years ago at the age of 16. It's simply the best book I've read about bodybuilding (and I've read quite a few). In this book, Dave Draper, former Mr. America, Mr. Universe and Mr. World, gives you the straight talk about bodybuilding. There are no hidden agendas. Like Dave says in the book "The secret is there is no secret". Given this, it is Dave's sincere wish to give you, the reader, the best information available about how to build a strong and healthy body.In Dave's unique writing style (he has a great sense of humor) he explains the basics of bodybuilding as it pertains to both the beginner, the intermediate and advanced bodybuilder or the person who simply wants to get in great shape. He presents some very workable and realistic training programs that incorporates the superset training principle, which not only gives you superior muscle development and cardiovascular health, but also saves time in the gym and are a lot more fun. Dave has almost 50 years of bodybuilding experience. In the 60s he build one of the greatest physiques of all time with some of the shabbiest equipment allowable by law. The 60s is considered the golden era of bodybuilding and anyone who like me is a big fan of the golden era bodybuilders will really enjoy reading the section of the book where Dave tells a lot of great stories from those days with insight and humor. Not to mention the great pictures of Dave throughout the book. I've had the pleasure of meeting Dave in person and at age 58 he is still in fantastic shape. Like Bill Pearl, he is one of the few remaining TRUE bodybuilders. So if you want to learn from the best, I highly recommend this book. Henrik Nielsen Copenhagen, Denmark

Rating: Summary: Dave Draper returns-with a victory ! Review: Well, Dave Draper is back, and better than ever. His book Brother Iron, Sister Steel is a book you won't want to miss. His words are from the heart-a rare find now a days. He has the wisdom and experience (Mr. America-Mr.Universe), to tell the truth and set you in the right direction. No over fancy jargon or lingo here, just basic truth that we can live a healthy lifestyle, following Dave's advice. His book will not only teach you about exercise, diet and health, but give you great advice on life. Whether you are a seasond pro-athlete or a casual fitness buff, buy Dave's book. Remeber, here is a man who has trained with several Mr. Olympias (Arnold is one). You will always learn when the master speaks
Rating: Summary: A Book for All Seasons Review: When I received Dave Draper's book, I expected a blend of the practical and the insightful, because that's the way I always sensed he lived his life. Practicality involves doing what works; insight requires a sensitivity that escapes a lot of people, and it's sensitivity that can knock a man down. Getting up again is what equips him to teach. BISS is a book that meets all of those expectations. There is the purely physical dimension, satisfying the info-hunger of both the musclehead and the fitness wannabe. And while my style of training differs somewhat from his, I gained insight from how he varies his advice from the norm. But BISS also traces Dave's deeper considerations, largely by way of stories. In those stories lie real nuggets. Look at Dave and you think "Superman"; listen to him and you realize "wise man." "Mortal man." "One of us." He's funny, too. Dave's got physical gifts I wasn't given, but he is aware of how much a part of all humanity he is. He's also aware of how far one can fall. He fell; he stood up again. That qualifies him, I think, to show us a little of the way ahead. Isn't that what wise men do? BISS is a great book. Buy it.
