Summary: Absolutely Refreshing!
Review: A much needed breath of fresh air in the polluted world of fitness books! With a unique writing style that is both entertaining and thought provoking, Dave Draper cuts through all the hype and psuedo-science that dominates the world of fitness today and tells it exactly like it truly is. You don't have to be a PhD in exercise physiology to understand what Draper is presenting. This book is a 'must-have' for anyone who wants to lift weights as part of their exercise program. By explaining the philosophies and programs he himself has followed for 50 years, the author provides the necessary information on exercises, routines, programs, and nutrition that anyone can follow for physical improvement. For the advanced trainer, the chapters on motivation, routine development, and biographical insights into one of bodybuilding's legends will prove of great value, as well.

Summary: motivation
Review: After working out for 40 years and reading almost every book on the subject, I can truthfully say that this book is inspirational.I received my copy last week and have read it twice already. Not only is it full of practical advice but the way Dave writes, it is a great motivator. He reminded me why I decided to spend a life time working out and the sheer joy it brings everyday. He shares his unbound enthusiasm and delight for the dance with the iron and plain simple hard work.Definitely a book to read and re-read again over and over. Summary: Setting A Standard
Review: As a professional trainer and fitness consultant for over 17 years, I am rarely impressed by writings on bodybuilding or fitness. I have a personal library of books on this subject. This book IS different. It's revealing...enlightening. Dave Draper captures the true essence of LIVING the life of a healthy, dynamic being. The manner in which he expresses his "message" leaves you in a place of freedom. Freedom to find and follow YOUR path of potential. This book is one that prompts one to LIVE his teachings. To apply his wisdom to generate YOUR own experience. Draper knows that it is information that is APPLIED that brings wisdom and desired result. Draper conveys this in a most non-threatening and non-patronizing way. Ideal book for the beginner and seasoned veteran alike.

Summary: Brother Iron, Sister Steel
Review: AWESOME, I received Brother Iron, Sister Steel yesterday, and am already 196 pages into it. It's like no other bodybuilding book I've read. Reading through Dave's 50 yrs of bodybuilding experience, it feels like you're sitting there next to Dave listening to him talk. Written very one on one. It gives you the knowledge, motivation and courage to plow through your slumps and set high goals. I can't say enough good stuff about the book and I'm not even completely finished with it yet. For those of you without a copy I highly recommend you get it. This isn't the type of book you read once and throw to the side, This book you'll want to read over, and over again, especially in slumps or when needing motivation.

Summary: The Bomber
Review: BISS is a must have book for all us baby boomers who grew up seeing Dave Draper's picture everywhere we turned.
It turns out that Dave not only developed one of the finest bodies in the sixties and seventies, but a fine mind and sense of humor too.
BISS takes you down memory lane, but it also tells you how to get going on your own fitness and strength journey, and in a delightfully entertaining way!
Read it to learn about the Golden Boy of the Golden Age of bodybuilding, or the inside story of a true Hero Epic or for inspiration and guidance, but do read it.

Summary: Draper Knows Bodybuilding!
Review: Dave Draper is a man who understands the world of bodybuilding in every form, and from personal experience. His latest book is one of the finest books on the sport I have read. I am surprised it is not in hardback form, it deserves to be. Dave has an easy going personal style to his writing. He doesn't mince words, but gets right to the point. This book is a huge resource... part musclebuilding advice, part reference book, part biography, and part psyhology, and ALWAYS keeping your interest. You won't be able to put it down. If you have one book on the sport of bodybuilding, this is it! An impressive and thoughtful opus from an incredible man with an awesome story to tell. His advice is also completely sound. Thanks Dave!

Summary: Lifestyle Observations From A Master
Review: Dave Draper is as terrific a writer as he is an athlete. This is a great read on any level. His infectious enthusiasm for the sport and for life are very appealing. And the knowledge he imparts is relevant to anyone; male, female, beginner or advanced bodybuilder or just anyone looking to lose weight and get fit (like me). Anyone can profit from his exercise and nutrition expertise and besides, this is also autobiographical. Dave tells of his odyssey through bodybuilding, acting and now writing. Personally, have been a fan of Dave for quite a while so this was a treat, especially with all the many "blast from the past" photos. Consider this book for yourself and/or for a gift, don't think that anyone can go wrong.

Summary: Tells it like it is!
Review: Dave Draper knows what he is talking about. He goes back to the old school approach of hard work and common sense to build a great physique. It seems all you read about now is that if you work out more than 2-3 days a week you are overtraining. While there is truth in the fact that overtraining can hurt your progress,I believe that most just want to take the 'easy' way out.

Dave tells it like it is and after you read this book you will have no more excuses about not working out. The motivation is all in here. This book is also full of humor and a great look back at some of the real bodybuilders the sport used to have.

Bottom line is this. If you want a book with an honest approach to helping you get in great shape then look no further. This is the book to light your fire and help get you where you would like to be.

Highest recommendation

Summary: Don't pass this one up!
Review: Dave Draper, bodybuilding's original "Blonde Bomber" and former Mr.America, Mr.Universe and Mr.World has written a fabulous and unique book about not only bodybuilding and creating a healthy life style, but also of his humble beginings and antidotes from his associations with other great bodybuilders from the "Golden Era" of bodybuilding. Dave writes in an easy to understand, down home, everyman style interspearsed with his humor and humility. Beyond sets, reps and diets Dave gets to the heart of taking command of yourself and motivates you from within. I have a small library of books bought over the last 20 years pertaining to workouts, diets, biographies and motivation. Brother Iron and Sister Steel is head and shoulders above them all. It is a must read and I cannot recommend it enough!
