Rating: Summary: The Ultimate Short Game Guide Review: "Must Have" short game instruction manual. I dropped 6 strokes (from 11 to 5) off my handicap in just one summer by following the practise routines outlined in this book. I haven't seen any book that had a better, more complete or easier to follow set of short game practise routines. Given that short game practise will yield better scoring results than the same amount of time spent on the full swing, this should be a part of any serious golfer's library.

Rating: Summary: Golf Fanatic from CT Review: How much of the game is mental? 60%? 70%? 80%? This book covers the managment of the game, and the thinking of the game. This is the part of the game that makes a professional a professional! Get it, digest it, and improve your game!
Rating: Summary: Short game strategies- a must to play golf Review: I have read extensively and found that Tom Watson's technical strategy is simple and straight forward - no gimmicks. His sand play strategy has you hoping you land in the sand trap - with a little practice you'll find you have greater control from the sand. His book lays out strategy in a cohesive fashion that puts a short game plan together that works to your talents. This book changed my game forever. It allows you to be very competitve with your short game. You may find bits and pieces of this strategy in articles and other books but this book gets it right!
Rating: Summary: This book is the Bible of how to score around the green. Review: I have read many many books about golf and there is no book that I have relied on more than this masterpeice. Tom Watson takes you through both technique and theory in an easily understandable way with excellent drills to hone your shotmaking ability. I would recommend this book to every golfer on the planet. -- Adam Speer
Rating: Summary: Golf Fanatic from CT Review: Knowing most of the game is within 100 yards, we all think it's off the tee box or outside 150. Having discovered the short game, help is necessary to both conceive and pull of right shot off. Watson has great sections that do both of these. While there are other good books out on this same subject, especially Pelz's, I would suggest most of us would profit from this one first, then add Pelz's. That's what I did with great success with both. Pelz adds some other elements (3-4 wedge concept) and differing lies. Conceptually and techniqe are here in Watson's. One aid he gave me has saved me I don't know how many strokes! You'll have to find it yourself. Great swing thoughts!

Rating: Summary: A pretty good book. Review: Most of the information in this book is useful. It gives simple and common sense ways to go about improving your short game. Tom Watson is one of the greatest short game players of all time, and his advice is obviously comming from much experience. My only real problem with this book is the abundance of photographs that didn't really need to be there. There are many photographs that show positioning during set-up, placement for your hands for the grip, etc. which are very useful and well drawn. But there are also many drawings (practically every other page) that have no educational value. I don't mean to sound insulting, because the book does teach many useful techniques, but lets just say this book could have been written in 1/3 of the pages. This book is saved by Mr. Watson's discussion of practice drills which are fantastic and definately worth while! So if you are looking for a few tips to help you on the course, pick this book up. But if you are a true student of the short game, I recommend Dave Pelz's Short Game Bible. If you are like me, you'll buy both and compare for yourself. But if you can only grab one, I'd have to go with the Short Game Bible. It's just too useful to pass up.
Rating: Summary: Learn to score. Review: Thanks to this book and some practice, my short game is the best part of my game. I wish there was a book that would have as big an effect on my ball striking consistency.
Rating: Summary: Solid Short Game Book Review: The best two things about this book are the illustrations and Watson's discussion on practice. The putting section is the weakest piece. Don't buy this book to help your putting. Buy Stockton's book or Todd Sones new book. I get the feeling that a lot of this book was recycled from Golf Digest one and two page instructional articles. Nevertheless, the chipping, pitching, and sand play sections are quite good. I found the sand section very helpful. A solid overview of the short game.
