Summary: Personal profiles intriguing, town history unecessary
Review: I read this book a couple of years ago and recently I noticed one of the captains, Jamila Wideman, as being on the local WNBA team here the Sparks. I am a regular at the games and she is my favorite player. This tempted me to read this book again. After reading it I noticed I had to skip through many parts because of the authors continuos banter about the town, its inhabitants, and its history. The town is influencial on the girls story but this was a matter of overkill. I loved the personal stories of the players maybe because I'm a high school girls basketball player myself. I only recommend this book for people who are really interested in the players and the women's game and only if they skip the Amherst sections. I also strongly recommend Tara Vanderveer's "Shooting From the Outside". For Jamila Wideman fans this book is a must read and so is the article about her in Sports Illustrated.

Summary: The Best Book
Review: I think that this book is DA BOMB! Jamila Wideman is my favorite basketball player. She is like my role model. When I use to live in Burbank, California, I watched the first game of the WNBA. Even tough the Sparks lost I loved it. If you also like Jamila Wideman e-mail me at cardinalfan@hotmail.com

Review: I thought "In These Girls Hope Is a Muscle" was a wonderful book. As a varsity basketball player and having been in the state championships, I especially related to this book. It is truley a wonderful book about the importance of girl's basketball and how much it means to the girls. I would recommend this book to anybody who likes a well written and inspirational book.

Summary: This is the most inspirational book I've ever read.
Review: I'm fifteen and have played basketball for nine years. My father purchased this book for me in the seventh grade. At the time, I had no idea who Jamila Wideman was. Then one day I went to go see a local high school team play. There was this awesome point guard on the team who wore # 10. No, it wasn't Jamila. I remembered what she looked like and when I got home I happened to see the very end of a college game. I couldn't believe my eyes it looked just like that player from the game I went to go see and she even had the same number! I then noticed the same college player on a Sports Illustrated magazine(which I still have). To this very day I'm still a big fan of Jamila Wideman and strongly recommend this book. I couldn't put it down. I've read it at least three times. I loved how Maeleine Blais talked about the girls' lives and didn't single it on any one player. It was a fascinating book that showed how failure can lead to triumph if you never give up. If you love the thrill and excitement of women's sports, you'll really enjoy this book. I would also like to wish the best of luck to Jamila and the rest of the L.A. Sparks!

Summary: 5 stars aren't enough to rate this book!
Review: I've read this book atleast 5 times, and each time I find some other inspirational phrase or part of a story I missed the last time I read it. This is definetly my favorite book, and I recommend this to anyone who wants to read a good book, even if they know nothing about basketball.

Summary: In These Girls, I see My Own Daughter
Review: If you have a daughter playing basketball at the Junior High or above level, You have to read this book! Madeleine Blais has caught the hearts and souls of these girls of Amherst. The "side trips" into each of the players and their coach's history is an endearing and encouraging experience. By the end of the book ( which, by the way, moves very well), you will hold a warm spot in your heart for these young people, their parents and the town itself. The "Bus Ride" back through town at the end of the book will forever stay with you.

Summary: In These Girls Hope is A Muscle is Inspirational.
Review: In these Girls Hope is a Muscle I got a sence for how important a team is. The details of the individual and team expirences are encouraging and informative. This novel is truly fascinating, and is an excellent story that all women basketball players should read.

Summary: Basketball team win championship after learning teamwork.
Review: In These Girls Hope is a Muscle, is a special book for all ages and sexes. The story of a girls basketball team warms the heart with the high hope of determination. The book proves if you put your mind to something you can go all the way. The lives of the eleven girls are explained in detail and is boring towards the beginning, but towards the middle, this upbeat book becomes wonderful to read. The book has a good moral and a great theme. I also enjoyed how Jen and Jamila gave realistic vibes!
