Review: Wilderness Survival is a straightforward book that focuses on teaching the skills one should know before venturing into the great outdoors. Based on the same principles I taught--while a member of the USAF Survival Instructor Corp--the 182 page text covers the five essentials of survival: Personal Protection (clothing, shelter, and fire); Signaling (manmade and natural), Sustenance (water and food); Navigation (with and without a compass); and Health (psychological, environmental injuries, and traumatic injuries).

In addition to being a valuable resource for all backcountry travelers, Wilderness Survival is the working text for student of my Wilderness Adventure Programs (Simply Survival).
