Summary: Review of Trapshooting Secrets - WS-South Africa
Review: The author definately has a lot of tips, but the general layout of the book is poor. There is a lot of repetition, so both the content and price could be cut by half. It would have been better to see the Illustrations in their relevant chapters.
There are also places where the author contradict previous statements in his book. I think it is after all this still worth the time reading the book, try out suggestions, and you will surely still learn something you did not know.

Summary: New Trap Shooting Secrets Book Edition Now Available!
Review: The first edition had some gramatical errors due to printer failing to make the corrections. However, this by no means altered the text meaning or instructional intent or purpose of the book. The new edition is now available! Corrections have been made and more text, and more illustrations have been added. The book is better than ever. As you can verify, Olympic-class Gold Medalist shooters endorse the book, as many trapshooters who have won competition events, including the Grand trapshoots. Many shooters have raised their scores, immediately. The drawings were place in the back of the book for a purpose... to make it easier to reference the text-based illustration in the field, when competing in trapshooting events to bail the shooter out of trouble, fast! The concepts in the book are powerful and accurate and the results are noted in the testimonials you read here. Also, pro trapshooter and shooting instructor, Mr. Phil Kiner, has informed us the book has "great value" and he will endorse the book! Other "Hall of Fame" ATA trapshooters are now reveiwing the book for endorsements. No book is perfect, but this is as close as it gets... Trap Shooting Secrets is a "technical trapshooting book" not a novel. If you are seeking a work of literary art, look elsewhere. If you want a book to help you dead-center targets and win high-level competition trapshoots? This is the book you MUST have! And if you want to go further, check out our, "Precision Shooting - The Trap Shooter's Bible" book right here on Amazon.com. Shotgun Sports magazine picked up "both" our books as has, Clay Shooting Magazine in Europe. We believe they know a trapshooting book's real "value" when they see it. They had the books "professionally reviewed" by top guns in the USA and in Europe and found the books worthy to be distributed directly by the magazines to subscriber sales. They wouldn't do this if the books didn't measure up. They are satisfied with the books. So it is with our very happy customers who read our books and carry these books to registered trapshoots... and are winning! That say's it all. And, the TSS book comes with a money-back guarantee! That's how strongly we feel about the book. James Russell is an "internationally registered publisher" not a self-published entity. The bottom line is the value of the book. The book has been judged by a jury of extraordinary competent trapshooters and their testimonials have made their verdict. Name one trapshooting book that has the testimonials as this book! Only Trap Shooting Secrets and Precision Shooting has that status! Trap Shooting Secrets is powerfully effective. That's what counts. It gives positive results to the shooter. No other "technical" trapshooting books exist, and that's a fact. If you want professional inside knowledge to trapshooting, you won't find it anywhere else but right here!

Summary: Why You Need Trapshooting Secrets
Review: There are many secrets professional trapshooters use when shooting, unlike what you have ever read before in any magazine or videotape. I have interviewed many Hall of Fame ATA and PITA professinal shooters, applied their inside knowledge and wrote the book. You will learn things here that will certainly take you into the world where professionals reside. The first thing you will learn is that trap targets do not fly in straight lines, but actually are bending... diverting away from what you see as a straight flying target (optical illussion). It's one of the biggest secrets! And, it is one of the biggest reasons why targets are missed. So much is covered in this book; setup, eye and gun hold points, eye prefocus, seeing targets in slow-motion and brighter than you see them now, understanding target angles, winning hot-core patterns (not 30" patterns you are shooting now that are killing your scores), chokes, shell selection, moving gun techniques, absolute methods to keep your head down, trigger control, etc. There are over 123 step-by-step shooting tips you can take to the practice trap. It's like having a shooting coach standing right by your side. I don't talk about trapshooting, we will apply professional trapshooting techniques... new techniques to boost your scores. And there is a guarantee no other publisher offers; If your scores do not rise within 30-days, return the book to the publisher and the purchase price of the book will be refunded! I wrote this book because when I first started trapshooting I looked for a technical book that would explain the game, how to stop missing targets, to apply the techniques professionals use. To my dismay, there were no true instructional books giving such instructions. Being an author I then wrote the book to help the novice and the accomplished shooter to escape from the dreaded slumps. Slumps that persist for years with scores not rising, just hit & miss shooting that seems to continue on for years on end. I have an extensive slump-busting section in the book along with the true cures for flinching. Flinching is not what you think it is or what you have been told or read about and the release trigger is not the 100% cure (it only helps but there are other methods to resolve the source of the problem). Flinching is caused by shooting out of phase with your internal timeclock. Most shooters are shooting out of phase and that changes the zone and alters sight pictures and creates optical illusions where targets are habitually missed, and makes you pull the trigger when the target is nowhere near the muzzle sight picture. You will learn how to shoot in phase, shoot in slow-motion mode like the pros do breaking targets rapidly (it seems fast, but it's really slow-motion shooting and it's a secret technique), you'll learn how to cant the gun to get onto the targets quicker and with dead-on accuracy (pros cant their guns believe it or not, they do), you will see the mistakes you are making that is causing your setup to be blown which is totally ruining your scores. The book focuses on handicap shooting techniques (18 to 27 yardline)where the money is, and, where the game is most difficult. You can apply the techniques to singles shooting (16-yard). If you shoot DTL (European Down The Line) you can certainly use these techniques. Trap Shooting Secrets is reaching high levels of recognition; Shotgun Sports Magazine, Olympic shooting schools, and many trapshooters who are winning tournement shoots after reading the book. All of the information is here to give you that winning edge... the inside knowledge required to shoot trap targets with precise accuracy. You won't be disappointed!

Summary: Read OVER and OVER
Review: This book contains a tremendous amount of good information, all of which cannot be retained in one reading. I have highlighted it as I would a textbook for later review. That's the good news.
The bad news is, without highlighting, the book is hard to deal with due to platitudes and cliches scattered throughout. His valuable advice could be conveyed in half the space and he sorely needs an editor.
On balance, I'm glad I bought the book and intend to get his other one (Precision Shooting)

Summary: For [PRICE] the book should have been edited better.
Review: This book has some good information, but it is very hard to get through, references to diagrams are in the text with out any clue as to where the diagrams are, and enough already with all the words of wisdom, and biblical references.
There are paragrahs, but it is like reading one big run on sentence. For [PRICE] we should be getting a more polished easier to read copy. I am not convinced it was a wise purchase.

Summary: Excellent content, poor spelling and grammar.
Review: This book is aimed at the sort of person who likes great depth of subject matter. Everything is covered in great detail, and this excellent book is only marred by poor layout, spelling, and grammar. In all anyone reading this book should be able to glean fresh insight into the game.

Summary: "The Best Instructional Book On Trap Shooting"
Review: This book is really geared for the trap shooter who "seriously" wants to raise his or her score averages. The author goes into all aspects of trap shooting; proper stance, equipment, mental attitude, dealing with competition and physical endurance. As a trap shooter for over 27 years, I applied a few of the writers recommendations and my score improved immediately.

Summary: Save and read over and over
Review: This is a great book, but wordy. Book could be 25% shorter if author got rid of meaningless platitudes.
The author IS VERY WELL INFORMED and a great teacher. He does share info that we can all use, regardless of expertise level.
As I said above, this one's a keeper. Read it over and over and concentrate on one lesson at a time, as the author suggests.
I will get his second book(Precision Trapshooting), actually written before this one, very soon.
