Summary: Book is Great
Review: I had never won anything until I bought these two books Trap Shooting Secrets and Precision Shooting - The Trapshooter's Bible.   After reading them I won my first belt buckle at the Michigan State Shoot, not to mention the money I won, too!  I shot a 98 after reading these two great books and I've been shooting high scores ever since.  My averages were in the low and mid 80's, not anymore!  I've read these books twice and I will need to read them many more times in my lifetime.  There is way too much information in these books to absorb quickly, but the valuable instruction you do retain is powerful knowledge!  These books are worth every cent I paid, and much more.  My only regret is I wish I'd had these books years ago.  Don't make the mistake I and many other shooters have made.   It is no fun shooting poor scores.   High scores create satisfaction.   I recommend shooters read these books without delay.  They are crammed with knowledge, instructions and illustrations that will amaze you.  You will discover why professional shooters recommend these books, they are great!

Summary: trap shooting secrets
Review: I have read many books on trap shooting through the years. Trap Shooting Secrets is a little windy but is the best detailed book on trapshooting I have ever read. It discusses important areas of trapshooting never discussed in any other book. Mental training at its best and more important things then just hitting the tarket. My hat is off to James Russell

Summary: A must have for trap shooters
Review: I have seen my average as a new shooter go from 24/50 to 40/50 in just a few short weeks by using the methods in this book. I also have used the tips on Mr. Russell's website. I highly recommend his books. I haven't yet read Precision Shooting yet but I expect it to be as good as this one.

Summary: Very Effective Books
Review: I purchased both of James Russell's fine books; Trap Shooting Secrets and Precision Shooting - The Trapshooter's Bible. After reading and rereading them, I know they have helped improve my scores. After reading the books, I found "my zone" and dusted 123 out of 125! The advice and instructions in these shotgun shooting books are truly powerful. My scores have absolutely improved! Of most importance. I found in the books, is finding the zone and when and where to pull the trigger. I found success after reading these books. In fact, they are so good, I read them a few dozen times, and these are not small books, they are huge in content. There is a tremendous amount of information in these books with many dozens of enlightening illustrations. I recommend you read both of Mr. Russell's trap shooting books, so you can reach your true potential quickly to be a top-notch shooter. The author has excellent works here and I'm most certainly looking forward to his next publication. Shooting is much more fun now that I don't miss the targets like I used to. If your scores are not where you want them to be, these are the books to make you a better shooter!

Summary: Good Material, But Needs an Editor
Review: I'm a beginner at shooting trap, but even at that level there are a lot of very helpful ideas in this book. The problem for the reader is finding them, and working through them! This book is dying for a book editor's touch. Here's why I say that:

1. Maybe I missed the overall structure, but the sequence of the material seems almost random. Lots of good ideas, but they're not organized in a way which helps learning them.

2. The illustrations and figures are all placed in the back, in one chapter. It's a real pain to have to stop reading the text and refer to a different location in the book. Again, this detracts from the book's value as a learning tool, because you can't view the illustrations in their context.

3. ARGGH! What's with all the misspellings and grammatical errors? Worst of all, the chronic use of apostrophes to make plural nouns. ARGGH!

Is it worth buying? Yes--but it would be vastly improved with a thorough editing.

Summary: Look closely at the reviews...
Review: It seems rather odd that the overwhelming majority of reviews (all of which award this book 5 stars) are anonymous postings from Livingston, Texas. A quick internet search reveals that the author, James Russell, lives in Livingston. In fact, one review for this book is written by a "James Russell" from Livingston, though the reviewer states that he is "new to trap shooting and 56 years of age" It seems clear that Mr. Livingston is anonlymously writing reviews for his own book and giving it five stars to boost its ratings. If the book were really as good as he claims it is, one wonders why it would be necessary to falsely boost the ratings. Interestingly, a search on Amazon of James Russell's other books, such as those on screenwriting display the same tendency: many laudatory 5-star reviews from Livingston, TX, including some from the author, who claims to have benefited greatly from the wisdom of the book. Strange indeed!

Summary: Books Deliver On The Promise!
Review: New to trap shooting and 56 years of age, I was hitting only 75 of 100 in singles and handicap, until I read Trap Shooting Secrets and Precision Shooting - The Trapshooter's Bible. On my first shoot I shot 181x200 in singles! My previous best score was only 168, so I picked up 13 targets right away. On handicap, my best was 75, but after reading the books my score jumped to 80, and that was on a very rainy cold day. How much of the books did I read to increase these scores? Three tips! Yes, just three shooting tips! In my opinion, these books are remarkable and I highly recommend shooter's read the books if they wish to see an increase in scores. Here's more! I followed the first phase of the practice tips, tightened my choke, employed the snap shooting technique, as advised in the books, and smoked the targets hard. Without a coach, I found it difficult to improve my shooting. These clay target shooting books is like having a coach by your side giving you inside knowledge and advice. There is valuable information in these books. The books deliver on the promise. I'm one satisfied customer!

Summary: Luca Scribani Rossi - Olympic Medallist Twice World Champion
Review: Olymic shooter's know just how valuable James Russell's trap shooting books truly are. Luca Scribani Rossi is a top-gun Olympic Medallist and a twice World Champion shotgun clay target shooter. Here's what he has to say...

"I strongly recommend shotgun competition shooters to read both, Trap Shooting Secrets, and Precision Shooting - The Trapshooter's Bible. If you read these books you simply can't go wrong. Just follow the steps outlined and you'll leap ahead in the ranking of any competition you'll attend." That's my recommendation. Luca Scribani Rossi
