Summary: Highly Recommend This Book!
Review: ALAN RHONE - Wrexham, North Wales "I cannot recommend these books strongly enough, both are written in a plain straightforward way that makes it easy to follow the advice given. If there should be any lack of understanding the abundance of diagrams and sketches illustrate the points perfectly. I recommend these books to anyone who is new to trapshooting and even the experts will find something to surprise. Definitely a 'must have' in any shooters kit bag."

Summary: Review of Trapshooting Secrets by James Russell
Review: As a relative newcomer to the sport of trapshooting I've tried to read and digest as much as possible. I've found this book to be one of the least valuable and would suggest books by Midgalski, Chris Christian, and others instead. Russell's book presents a plethora of information, much of which is confusing, sometimes contradictory, poorly written, and somewhat messianic in tone. The graphics are mediochre, as is the print quality in this vanity publication. I gave this book a good read, after which my scores dropped dramatically. The assault of verbage left my brain reeling, undermining my confidence with the feeling that I was doing nothing right.. I put the book away, went back to the basics of gun hold, foot position, follow through, etc, rebuilt my confidence, and brought my scores back up. This book needs severe editing for information quality, punctuation, sentence structure, and graphics. Let the buyer beware.

Summary: Excellent books!
Review: Bottom line . . . these books work! Don't think of "Trap Shooting Secrets" and Precision Shooting - The Trapshooter's Bible" as simply books, think of them as equipment. Simple as that! I sincerely recommend these books to anyone who wants, not only to be a better trap shooter, but also a better shot on game. Excellent books! Bill Brown, Associate Editor of GunWeb Magazine.

Summary: Daro Handy's Recommendation
Review: Daro Handy - ATA & PITA Hall of Fame shooter, top-gun professional trapshooter for over 45-years. Here's what he has to say about the books.

"There is a lot of constructive information in Trap Shooting Secrets and Precision Shooting - The Trapshooter's Bible. The concepts in these two books are strongly presented, understandable and easily applied. If you would like to step into the world where professional trapshooter's reside, these books can reveal valuable technical information to improve your shooting. And, in conjunction with a qualified shooting instructor, these two books should give the trapshooter a high measure of success." Daro Handy

Summary: Study These Books!
Review: Denis Field (Syndicated shooting sports television show host) Although I've been hunting/shooting for over 30 years, I shot my first trap shoot on 6/6/99. My scores were; 81/singles, 73/handicap, 67/doubles. I purchased both books (Trap Shooting Secrets and Precision Shooting - The Trapshooter's Bible) and applied the shooting tips and techniques. My competition scores steadily increased. On 8/1/99, by applying the shooting advice, I scored 95/singles, 92/handicap, 89 doubles. I've won option money in the Lewis class, 25's & 50's. I've shot 2-25 straights and 1-49 in handicap competition. I've already won back the money I invested in the books. I feel every serious shotgun enthusiast, not just trap shooters, novice to pro, should study these books. The concentration tips work in golf. Even though I hadn't played in over 10 months, I adapted the techniques to my game and won a local 18 hole scramble tournament. I sank 10 out of 12 birdie attempts.

Summary: Why are all the 5-star reviews from Livingston, TX?
Review: Funny, the author lives in Livingston, TX, which is a small town. But almost all the 5-star reviews for this book are from "a reader" or "an Amazon customer" in Livingston, TX. It seems like the author is stacking the reviews - and isn't smart enough to change his purported location!

I am completely put off by the book's typos - it indicates poor attention to detail. And as others have said, the organization is mish-mash, and the figures are all at the back.

Summary: Book is Great
Review: I had never won anything until I bought these two books Trap Shooting Secrets and Precision Shooting - The Trapshooter's Bible.   After reading them I won my first belt buckle at the Michigan State Shoot, not to mention the money I won, too!  I shot a 98 after reading these two great books and I've been shooting high scores ever since.  My averages were in the low and mid 80's, not anymore!  I've read these books twice and I will need to read them many more times in my lifetime.  There is way too much information in these books to absorb quickly, but the valuable instruction you do retain is powerful knowledge!  These books are worth every cent I paid, and much more.  My only regret is I wish I'd had these books years ago.  Don't make the mistake I and many other shooters have made.   It is no fun shooting poor scores.   High scores create satisfaction.   I recommend shooters read these books without delay.  They are crammed with knowledge, instructions and illustrations that will amaze you.  You will discover why professional shooters recommend these books, they are great!
