Summary: A great companion to Krav Maga
Review: This book is a great companion to any practitioner of Krav Maga. While some may think it is thin in terms of step-by-step instruction, it is not meant to be the complete authoritative guide to Krav Maga. Instead it introduces those unfamiliar with Krav Maga to its techniques and abilities, and it gives current Krav Maga students a chance to understand techniques learned in later levels. While this book is great for a person of any level, it is especially helpful to KM practitioners who want to add to their already lethal arsenal.

Summary: the real worst case scenario handbook
Review: this book is an excellent primer for an amazing self-defense technique. i saw a 72 year old man demonstrate it and give me my first lesson in krav-maga. this book gives away all the secrets of efficient self defense -- even in the case of an attack with firearms. very practical with many, many very useful fotos. i fully recommend it!

Summary: Exellent for the advanced martial artist
Review: This book is by no means a "teach yourselfe Krav-Maga" book, and was not intended to be either. This book does not teach you how to block an attack and it does not teach you how to kick ore even how to throw a straight punch, so it is not aimed at the novice, but it contains a vide variety of information on how to deal with an armed assault just like it promisses. It teaches principples and aproaches that are truly unique. I am a black belt in Taekwon-Do ( ITF ) and i feel pretty safe whenever i am out on the street, but this book has given me an extra edge in selfe defence.... so if you want to expand your horizont and are looking for a way to feel more comfortable with armed opponents this is a great opportunity.

But remember, the teqnicues need to be praticed in order to work in a real life and death situation :D

Summary: One of the best SD books I've ever read
Review: This book is just great! I've done some martial arts for years and tried some selfdefense systems, but in my opinion Krav Maga is just about the best you can get on the marked. Down-to-earth techniques that really work, very efficient, and with no weird stuff to "blow it up". Unless some other review states, these techniques work under real conditions. You will not see it if you just read it, but if you try it under high-stress conditions, that is what will work - and only that will work, there's no time for more if you will be attacked. I've took park in a couple of seminars of Krav Maga, and I have to say that the book covers the techniques pretty well. There are plenty of pics that make it easy to understand. 5 stars without hesistation!

Summary: Krav Maga
Review: This book provides decent basic concepts in self defence. However, it contains poor photographs that does not illustrate the techniques properly. As a result, this book provides good reference for existing Krav Maga practicioners but not for beginners. Think of it this way, would you know how to play golf like Tiger Woods just by reading a book on how to play golf? I think not.

Summary: Good Book
Review: This is a very good book, as far as books come. Many useful photos, well written and all. Krav-Maga in it self is a very good self-defense system, so combining this with the quality of the book makes it a very good value-for-money.

Never the less, you should keep in mind, that one cannot become a master of ANY martial art just by reading a book, so you should get yourself some "hands-on" training as well if you can...

To summ this up, i really enjoyed the book, and Krav-Maga as a system. I've been training MA for a few years now, and i think i will start taking some lessons in Krav Maga now, to complement this book.

Summary: Good book, but....
Review: Very good book, but readers must understand that the techniques used in the book are very lethal. Kicks or blows to the throat or groin, and solar plexus are considered lethal and banned for most Law-enforcement personnel.

I think this is not a book for the broad public, it will teach them easy to learn techniques that when used in the wrong hands by so called street fighters can easily get u in prison with a life-time conviction.

But if used in the right hands it is an easy down to earth fighting system, that could save your skin in an emergency situation

remember

"it's better to be judged by twelve then to be carried by six"

Summary: Simple, straight and efficient
Review: With this book, 50 years of Israeli fighting experience are up to us. An interesting way to deal with violence, far from our "establisment" and rules. A subtitle of the book could be : "Forget all that you read before and start making it simple, straight and efficient" no doubt this can work, as no time and no place is left for the assaillant to understand what's happening to him as you react this way. Really worth reading.

Summary: a great Self Defense teaching book !
Review: Yes, a useful book.

Tempering the previous reviewers who worry for how a beginner could use it, I'd say that not using it would be worse. Tell people, as they do, that reacting may worsen a dangerous situation is really stupid. When some fool comes to stab you, which sadly occurs more and more often, waiting for him quietly won't help. With this Krav Maga method, even a complete beginner can learn the moves that makes the difference between death and life. Clear pictures, long explanations, very logical and efficient way of teaching. A great job.

Summary: REALISTIC SELF-DEFENSE- ISRAELI STYLE!
Review: You no longer have to travel to L.A. or the "Big Apple" to get a taste of the increasingly popular self defense and fitness method called Krav Maga. This new book gives you some valuable tips on how to protect yourself on today's mean streets from armed attackers. And its written by the late creator of the system and one of his students- who happens to be the head of one of the major Krav Maga organizations! I liked this book because of its no nonsense approach to personal protection- from safety in training to getting mentally tough. Other books I thought were in the same league are "The Close-Combat Files of Colonel Rex Applegate" by Applegate and Melson; "Krav Maga for Klutzes" by the Personal Shield Foundation; "U.S. Marines Close Combat Manual" from Paladin Press.
