Summary: Best Way to Train Your Gun Dog
Review: Since getting a GSP puppy I have read several training books. This one was recommended by the breeder I bought the dog from. It is by far the best book I have read yet. It is written so an average joe can understand it. I highly recomend it if you are trying to train a gun dog. Bill Tarrant has a way with words that makes you want to keep reading. And the photos that go with the writting leave no doubt about what should be done.

Review: The real strength of this book is that it gets you in the right mindset for gun dog training. The techniques are simple yet ingenious. I've used most of them and built my training foundation around Delmar Smith's principles.

Buy this book and several others. See a professional trainer. There's no harm in educating yourself.

Review: This is my first time owning and training a gun dog. I purchased and read this book before I bought my puppy. I was skeptical but Delmar's methods DO work. This book set the basis for what others would try to teach me later-- and I was able to share information with them as well. My dog performed at an early age as a result of Delmar's advice. You have to be able to go along with the writing style -- which I found quite humorous and much more fun to read than a text book. A great addition to any library!

Summary: The best
Review: This is one of the finest dog training books I have read. Tarrant's books read well and Smith is a proven success in dog training. The book has been around for awhile, but it still has signinficant value. I hope the publisher keeps printing it for quite some time. I will be using a lot of the Delmar Smith method to train my new pup.

Summary: Delmar Smith Method
Review: Though this book has many good systems to train your dog, it starts them out too late (1 1/2 years old) for basic retrieve and pointing. I also don't agree with the idea of letting a bird dog run rabbits or other animals. The section on Whoa traing is outstanding along with many other methods explained in detail in this book.
