Summary: a team for the masochistic
Review: Wasn't Herman Melville the first manager of the Red Sox? If not he should have been, because winning the World Series is a White Wale that the Red Sox have not caught since 1918. The Red Sox have been guilty of so much -- Tom Yawkey, Ted Williams, Don Buddin, Jackie Jensen. In their own special ways they were all quite disastrous. Yet for all this the Red Sox are baseball's most intriguing team, so this book is essential.

Summary: The Trials and Tribulations of Being a Sox Fan
Review: What a sensational book. I have read Red Sox books in the past, and nothing seemed to capture the essence of the ball club's trials and tribulations than Red Sox Century. This book is as tragic as any classic story and examines 100 years of "what ifs." This book leaves no stone unturned and gives fans the ability to learn and love the former players of seasons past. It is the best Red Sox book I have ever read and will give one a deeper appreciation for the organization and it's tragic history. A futher note of excellence for this book are the points the authors make in putting to rest, the "cursed" theory and many other false misconceptions of the organization. It is a tremendous book and is a must read for any diehard Red Sox fan. Hell, it's a must read for anyone who wants to read a good tearjerker...

Summary: Best Red Sox Book Ever!!!!!!!
Review: Wow!!! What can I say!?! From cover to cover this book grabbed my attention!! Glenn Stout has done an amazing job using exhaustive research to paint the most complete Red Sox history ever written!!! Combine that with great photos and this is one book any true baseball fan needs to have. Even if you're a fan of a different team, this book will interest you. After all, haven't the Red Sox gotten under just about every teams skin at one point or another!?! Go out now and buy this book!!!

Summary: A must read for Sox fans
Review: You're a Sox fan, and your team just lost 5 in a row to drop out of the race once again. Well instead of watching the Yankees march to another World Series, pick up this book and learn the details of the tragedy that is the Red Sox. Seriously, I learned a lot about my team from this book- what really happened with Babe Ruth, how the Sox blew their chance at Jackie Robinson AND Willie Mays. it's painful at times, exciting at others, but always interesting.
