Rating: Summary: Motivational Review: The thrust of this book is clear and concise: the one thing is everything, and there is no gimmick or shortcut. Well, Shawn Phillips covers the "everything" in a way that anyone can understand and put to use immediately. Highly recommended!
Rating: Summary: ABSolution Rocks! Review: The workout tips in this book are excellent. I'm spending about the same amount of time in the gym, but I'm working out more efficiently. My "rip" level has gone through the roof, and I'm quickly becoming a Shred-Daddy. Watch out Shawn, I'm gunning for you!
Rating: Summary: Thanks Shawn, abs are on fire! Review: I can't believe I find this book in my country. I love Shawn & Bill so much for the lives they have helped, including mine. I read this all the day when I first get it. It is so incredible, for a first time in my life my abs are sore! But not only my abs, all the rest of my body has gotton a great work out. It be early I know, but I see changes already. It is nice to take Body for Life to the next level. I read english bad, but I was able to read this book, it is so easy. Take it from me, this is a must buy!Go Brazil!
Rating: Summary: The Next Step... Review: Honestly, this book is the biggest waste of time and effort I can possibly imagine. The book provides nothing useful in terms of new information. In fact in one of the most laughable sections we read about how working out is our way of helping to heal the USA after 9/11. What a LOAD of BUNK!! Is this Shawn's way of reaching out after the tragedy? Bwaahahaha! It is basically a book dedicated to the narcissism of an aging 39 year old who has lived his whole life pumping up his midsection. It is obvious where the brains in this outfit belong and that is with the younger brother...Bill. If you want a book worth reading then maybe Body for Life, this is no BFL 2 so do not be fooled. Quickly, I will sum up. Don't eat a lot of crap. Flex your abs at the top, look at me in my briefs, look at me with some chick, look at me ...look at me. Got it? Good...now don't waste your time or money like I did.
Rating: Summary: The Truth Hurts Review: When an honest approach to altering your physique comes along, some people don't want to listen, simply because it means HARD WORK. The truth is though, that to build your best body, from the inside out, as Phillips states, it takes COMMITMENT, RESPONSIBILITY, INTEGRITY, and KNOWLEDGE. He has given us honest and straightforward wisdom from his years of work and commitment to excellence. He is clear and inspiring in his approach, and has an obvious desire to aid this very personal journey of others'. I found ABSolution not only beautiful, but certainly not a coffee table book that's "just for looks". It's full of advice that I will use DAILY - something that I've not felt EVER from a fitness book! Thank You Shawn-
Rating: Summary: More than an Ab -solution Review: Shawn Phillips knows how to market an ab book - pull up your shirt, expose your stomach, and watch the dollars. Fortunately there is a good deal of "mind" working with the muscle in Shawn's program, and some solid explanation of exercises, food and other tangibles necessarily part of the ab-mix. Shawn's got an incredible stomach, and it takes a lot more than crunches to develop this type of build. Fortunately, he is generous (far more generous than a lot of authors) in explaining how to achieve something vaguely resembling his core (I say vaguely - unless you are going to retire, hire a personal chef, and devote yourself to fitness 24/7, noone is going to be mistaking you for the author in the next few years). The abdominal exercises in the book are very well detailed and explained, and the building of a program is rather methodically presented. Shawn targets each section (upper, lower, obliques, and back) with sharp focus on detail, and provides enough variations on core exercises to keep the program interesting and challenging. I also like the fact that there is a recognition that crunches alone are not getting you the "look", and there is some focus in this book on other weightlifting programs that compliment the development of an admirable core section (can you say Squats?). Nutritional information is also presented in a thorough manner, though I have better nutritional guidelines (see my other reviews if you want some good ones). Remember, body fat percentage is also key to ab development, and repeated core exercising won't get you the look if your body fat is over 10-12 percent. My attitude on books like "Absolution" is, if I learn a new component of exercise, or eating, or mental assistance in my program that I use for more than 2 weeks, then the book has served its purpose. I moderated my core training program with some of Shawn's exercises, and I'm pleased with the burn, and look I've gotten from them. That makes this book worthy of a reccomendation.
Rating: Summary: This really works Review: After reading the book and studying Shawn's workout for the three abs muscle groups, I have started to see and feel results already--after only two weeks. I can't wait to post pictures once they become worth bragging about. Thanks Shawn.
Rating: Summary: Save your money Review: This book is a tribute to the author's ego. All the pictures are of him. I thought I would be treated to a book that would show different people and how they do it as well. I think this book is kind of a copy of Body For Life. Bottom line! Save your money
Rating: Summary: AWESOME! Review: I have been on the Body for Life program for 6 months, and I can tell you that instead of using ABSolution on its own, I integrated it with Body for Life and am looking forward to seeing the results. These two programs can be integrated and tweaked to suit your lifestyle, I would highly recommend that over using just one or the other on its own.
Rating: Summary: GREAT INFO!!!!!!! Review: 7 months ago I had my 3rd child which I had gained over 50lbs. with each of my pregnancies and I've had EXCELLENT results with my body since I've been following the Body For Life book, by Bill Phillips, but I needed more information than what the BfL book gave on ab work and on getting my stomach flat and toned. Shawn Phillips book, ABSolution, gave me exactly the information that I needed to feel confident that I will be able to get my abs in the best shape ever without feeling like my only option left....liposuction!!!
