Summary: Expert Skiing for Dummies
Review: Perhaps this book belongs in the "... for Dummies" series. It takes you step-by-step through basic expert maneuvers. Having said that, nothing beats live instruction from a real instructor at an outstanding ski school (for example, Taos Ski Valley) and practice, practice, practice. Lito has done a good job in rendering something physical that really must be mastered by doing it, into written words. It's certainly worth the $13 price and belongs in every skier's library. It ranks among the best how-to skiing books.

Summary: The Bible of Ski Instruction.
Review: Simply put, this is the best book on skiing technique. I'm in awe that there is a negative review of this book. Despite its title, this book covers concepts from novice to expert technique. Lito's writing style is both engaging and very informative. He can convey complicated concepts with ease. This book not only covers how to coorect and advance your ski technique but also why you are performing the exercises, motions, etc., how they translate into carved (and skidded), controlled turns in various terrain. I am a very strong skier but I still frequently turn to this book to understand small corrections in my technique. Yes, this book can be repetitive but this helps to ingrain the concepts Lito is teaching. This book convinced me to sign up for his Aspen course which is also excellent.

Summary: Books that do what they say they will do
Review: This book in phenomenal, if you are someone who fits the profile of it's target market. It does what it says it will do. This book will get you out of that horrible intermediate rut.

I am not a ski instructor, but I have used what Lito Tejada-Flores teaches and I have taken several people who have never been on snow skis. I will have them skiing confidently down blue and modest black runs on day (3) three.

I've done this with people on challenging areas in Austria and in Summit County CO, not the bunny slopes in the Midwest. I've done this with people who fit the most challenging profile of a student and I'd take on almost anyone as a challenge. Again, I'm not a ski instructor. I'm a skier who loves to see the joy in someone's face when they 'get it.'

I've never let anyone learn that (stupid) snow plough. Have you ever watched someone who learns to ski in ski school? The minute they get in trouble they revert back to that (stupid) snow plough. I'm convinced that the snowplough is an evil conspiracy to keep people in ski school for eternity.

Lito has a wonderful way of explaining what skiing is all about. The negative reviews posted here infuriate me, this stuff works!

As for the person/review who said "instead, put your money towards a lesson" obviously has not paid for a lesson in a long time. The cost of this book will get you about a 15 minute lesson. Wow, that's going to teach you how to get in line for the chair lift.
If the author (Lito Tejada-Flores) should happen to ever read this review "thank you, thank you, thank you"

Summary: Great Book to Help Intermediate Skiers Move Up
Review: This is a great book for intermediate skiers. It is well-written with a logical progression of information and exercices. This is not really a book for people who are already expert skiers looking for extreme skiing advice (although there are some good introductory sections on skiing powder, bumps and steep terrain).

Personally, after many years of not much skiing, I picked this up to re-orient myself and learn a little bit skiing on shaped skis. This book was very helpful in that regard.

I have not seen the video, but I would guess that it would be an excellent companion to the book.

Summary: Excellent book
Review: This is an excellent book, with easily understood instructions that the average skier can follow. It helped me greatly this year skiing better and with less effort.
