Summary: the era of brazilian jujitsu has ended long ago
Review: don't you guys know that sakuraba kazushi, who is a master of the japanese jujitsu, singlehandedly defeated four members of the gracie family in the japanese PRIDE tournament? Sakuraba victory over them proves that the brazilian jujitsu is no longer the most powerful form of martial arts.

Summary: MASTERS
Review: this book was created in the interest of people who are training with a couple of friends and have no school to go and learn the art from a qualified teacher. This book gives them a guidline of what you need to know . It is VERY useful for students as well, as i have found, sometimes you catch someone with a move you learned in here, and even though they are a higher rank they've never seen it before.... my book was signed by KID PELIGRO one of the authors of the book. Im also going to meet royler gracie next month at PEDRO SAUER spring training camp, its gonna be great to get his picture and have him sign this book.. all in all, GET THIS BOOK!

Summary: A must have for every Brazilian JiuJitsu student
Review: THIS IS ABSOLUTELY THE BEST MARTIAL ARTS BOOK I HAVE EVER OWNED!

I have had many books in the past which had small, black and white pictures that really didn't break down the technique into logical components. The pictures in this book are big and in color. Additionally, at each phase of the move a description is included, talking about specific details to do and possible counters to be aware of.

I just started studying Brazilian JiuJitsu last year and this book has been a huge help in refining my technique.

I think the book contains around 100 - 110 techniques ranging from blue belt to black belt.

Summary: A pleasure to read
Review: Renzo & Royler Gracie rightfully command a position of esteem in the Jiu Jitsu community. This book highlights why. It is a treatise on the fundamentals of jiu jitsu.

Before jumping into technique, the book starts with history and philosophy of jiu jitsu. This is extremely important for all interested in the art.

The technique section contains detailed descriptions of many classical jiu jitsu moves. For the novice, they are a step by step walk through for how to practice and learn the techniques. For the experienced jiu jitsu player, they are a reminder of the details that separate success from failure in execution.

The book is organized by belt level - blue, purple, brown and black. The reality is some of these moves will be new to you, and some will be old hat. On the ones you've seen before, you should be able to pick up some details you had missed previously. I found the self defense techniques to be particularly helpful, as that's something that can get easily neglected.

The book was the vision of Kid Peligro, the world's premier martial arts journalist. Thank you KP!

Amen!

Summary: Great reference guide.
Review: This book is a great reference guide for those studying any martial arts and want to learn or better understand the ground game. While it doesn't take the place of an experienced instructor, reasonably experienced students can take this book and learn some new moves, or refine and perfect their basics as well. A must for any serious martial artist's library.

Summary: Good BJJ Book
Review: This book surprised me. I'm used to getting martial arts books that are either very well written or that have good pictures, but not both. This book does both. The pictures are excellent. The authors also do a good job explaining the history of BJJ.
Having taken both Judo and Jujutsu for years this book didn't have alot of techniques that I didn't recognize. My sense is that the "secret" to BJJ is in the rigorous training which the book doesn't cover. Overall a good book to have in your martial arts library.

Summary: Excellent book with tons of information
Review: Everyone knows that Brazilian jiu-jitsu is a proven fighting system. All you have to do is watch the REAL fighting competitions to see that those who know how to grapple usually win. The book is full gloss and covers over 100 submission and grappling techniques.

Summary: Well Done!
Review: I must say that after looking for books on BJJ for a while now, I am glad to see there are finally some really good ones out there. This book is probably one of the best out there. As a martial arts instructor (kung fu), I must say that it is necessary these days to learn the entire game, and not just the parameters of your system - as good as I think kung fu is. And why not, shouldn't the future martial artist be complete; to be able to defend him/herself on the gound as well as standing?...
