Rating: Summary: You won't regret buying it. I didn't. Review: I absolutely loved that book. Well, I should start by telling that I'm the biggest Arnold's fan, have been for the past 9 years. Of course I knew his biography, but it was completely different experience to read it in his own words. The book is so inspirational for me, I treat it as it were my Bible. I think anyone can read this book and get something usefull out of it, because it's not just an autobiography of a star -- it's a manual on how to become successfull. If Arnold could do it, you can do it too. It gets me motivated and challenges me to go after my own dreams. And after reading this book I love Arnold even more. He's a great guy and I hope to get to meet him one day and tell that to him in person.
Rating: Summary: The best book in the world Review: I am only 14 years old right now just one year younger than Arnold Schwarzenegger was when he first started bodybuilding. I read some of the book already and it is very motivational. Like Arnold said some days you don't feel like lifting weights because your just lazy, that's true that happens to me a lot. After reading some of this book though I can't believe the motivation I got to just lift weights every day lazy or not. Even if I get lazy some days after reading some of this book I've just decided to tell myself if he could build that much muscle when he started a year older than I am now then I can do that easily. So if 5 is the best rating for this book then I would give it a 10 because it is better than great, and if I haven't even read half of the book then a rating of 10 is honestly the truth.
Rating: Summary: The Michael Jordan of Bodybuilding! Review: I bought the original version of this book back in 1977 before Arnold became a household name. The first part is the best part of this book. It's not just an autobiography, but it's a story of drive and determination. A burning desire. A passion to be the best.In Arnold's own words, he tells how he had to overcome the negativity from family members to pursue his dream. HE TALKS ABOUT THE IMPORTANCE OF MENTAL IMAGERY - Seeing success. In part one, Arnold talks about the evolution of a bodybuilder [Arnold], changing techniques, trial and error, early bodybuilding contests, his initial european (NABBA) title wins, his first American contest 1968 IFBB Mr. Universe (in which he loses to Frank Zane) and then the incredible transformation, a near loss to Sergio Oliva in the 1969 Mr. Olympia and on to the winningest bodybuilding reign ever.If the only thing you get from this book is Arnold's mindset, you will become a winner in anything you do.Part two is a training system and even includes some free hand exercises that can be done without weights. Then there is a weight resistance program and a split routine. The training part is a little lame. I would recommend Arnold's Encyclopedia for more details.Education of a bodybuilder is a good book for bodyuilders fitness enthusiasts or anyone who wants a winning attitude.
Rating: Summary: Great Review: I bought this book a long time a go and i really did liked Arnold was my inspiration to become my self a bodybuilder. But now i won't give a nickle for Arnold, I can't imagine my self admiring such an .... I can't belive he can talk that way about immigrants when he arrived to USA as one of them. You can't segregate people that way Mr not when the population of california is full of them, they are not a minority there. You are so gonna loose this election and god I'm dying to hear you beging to "brownies" not to delay the premier of your pictures like in the past. Personally i won't buy a thing that this almost human being produce.ThanX but not ThanX
Rating: Summary: Look what Arnold did without Steriods! Review: I disagree with the reviewer who said that Arnold came to America because America had better supplements and better DRUGS! Back in 1976, speaking to about 150 people in a seminar, Arnold indicated that he won his first two Mr. Universe titles, developed 21 inch arms, 55 inch chest, could bench press 500 lbs and press behind the neck 300 lbs all WITHOUT STERIODS! Arnold's hero Reg Park was a three-time Mr. Universe and achieved similiar goals also without STERIODS!
To me the statement that Arnold came here just for steriods is just as ludicrous as that junk that Arnold's heart valve problem is due to steriod use. It's not--it's genetic!
Arnold came to America seeking opportunity and to say he found it would be the understatement of the century!
Rating: Summary: Impressionable After 20 Years! Review: I first bought this book in 1979 after meeting Schwarzenegger in my home town at an athletic store. "Arnold: Education of a Bodybuilder" is classic next to Schwarzenegger's Pumping Iron. A very impressionable, inspirational and educational book that the determined young athlete should include in his or her personal library for easy reference on the principles and psychology of bodybuilding. An autobiography on Arnold's success in his early years and excellent information on diet and training routines. Any other book after this one is a waste of money, even Schwarzenegger's "Encyclopedia" with the exception of my own book: "Reverse Pyramid Training and the Fifteen Rules for Building Lean Muscle Mass."
Rating: Summary: For Novice and Pro Alike -- even non-bodybuilders! Review: I read this book when it first came out, some twenty-odd years ago, give or take. That was before Arnold became "Arnold". Not only does the book give sound, basic and advanced workout instruction, but Arnold takes you a step deeper to help you develop your most important muscle: Your BRAIN. In this book he unlocks the "secret" of positive mental imaging and setting your mind to accomplishing anything you want. Once your mind BELIEVES it, your body goes through the motions to ACHIEVE it. In that way, this book will serve many others besides bodybuilders or athletes in general. Arnold taught me a lot in this book, and I've read it several times and also let friends borrow it. That'w why I have to buy a new one -- someone along the line liked it a lot too. I am getting back into training after many, many years and have read a lot of other material and learned a lot over the years, and the science of weight training has also changed a lot, but still and all, I want Arnold's tome by my side. By the way, I am just training to shape up and tone up and stay healthy--not to compete. One thing that disappointed me was that I learned that Arnold used Steroids--that's one thing I won't do. Regardless, this book is a MUST HAVE--it won't be your only, but it will be one of your favorites.
Rating: Summary: GOOD BOOK Review: I'm only half way through the book, which is the autobiograghy part. The 2nd half seems to be on excercises. I bought the book to read Arnold's autobiography. Very interesting stuff. For anyone interested in getting serious about competing in body'building it's a must for motivation and inspiration. I'm not interested in championship bodybuilding, but just reading his story has motivated me. Can't help but to take your hat off to this guy and bow. I figured the least I can do is take the time out to write the review he deserves. I'm very happy I bought his book.
Rating: Summary: Motivational! Review: If you're into bodybuilding or fitness and want to know how to go about visualizing your goals, I highly recommend this book. As a matter of fact, seeing how Arnold's mind worked to allow him to achieve what he has today is motivational for life in general. The first half of the book is devoted to Arnold's summarized life story and how he achieved his goals leading up to his Mr. Olympia victories (though this was written before his final victory in 1980). The second half of the book is devoted to bodybuilding and fitness training. Good stuff.
Rating: Summary: One of the greatest MOTIVATIONAL BOOKS you'll ever read! Review: In this exciting book Arnold reveals not only his bodybuilding secrets, but also how his mind works: his SUCCESS secrets. I bought the original edition years ago, and have probably read it twenty times. This book will become one of YOUR favorites, because you'll learn the secrets of Arnold's drive, self-confidence and hard work. You'll understand HOW to become successful at whatever you do. And the book is loaded with great photos. Thanks, Arnold, for a great book! By the way, keep a pen or highlighter handy...because you'll want to mark all the great success principles Arnold reveals!
