Rating: Summary: precise, concise, honest Review: ---------------
he was the best because he got rid of people and took enough sythetic testonsterone to out develop his rivals
---------------
i disagree with the above remark.
I have a 1978 edition & to be honest, Arnold admits:
- he moved to America because they had better supplements and D R U G S ( yes, drugs. ).
- he somewhat prides himself of his detached attitude and so many times admits he just got rid of whomever stood in his way.
- he talks briefly about the sordid link between the gay world & the gym world.
- he makes a frequent point of his many affairs.
However it's not a pulp fiction novel but a motivating essay targeting the mainstream audience.

Rating: Summary: The Austrian Oak's inspirational story Review: Actually, Arnold wrote this book long before his Hollywood career took off. He tells an honest story about his life and career as a bodybuilder back in a time when bodybuilding was considered strange and obscure. Arnold helped shatter all the myths and stereotypes about the sport and realistically tells us how gruelling and demanding the sport really is. He is correct in accessing that certain body types have a better chance at succeeding while others have many obstacles to overcome. Sheer muscle mass is only part of the sport. Just as important is definition and symmetry. Arnold was blessed with just about perfect body symmetry so he was a natural. This doesn't mean he didn't work hard. In fact you'll gather inspiration as you read about him always pushing himself and striving to do better. Arnold is also not shy about some of the seedier elements that were around at the time he was in competition. Promises of contracts, endorsements, and money could disappear as fast as the unscrupulous businessman who took advantage of them. This is a great book about a great man and brought bodybuilding the dignity it deserves.
Rating: Summary: The Heart of a Champion Review: Arnold is the greatest bodybuilding champion of all time. No one has approached his will to win and his desire to set unmatched records in the bodybuilding field. As a world class trainer and world champion weightlifter, I recommend this very basic of all bodybuilding books to anyone who has the desire to be the best that they can be. Arnold, you set the world afire with your charisma and your will of steel. May I encourage others to share these wonderful secrets from this great book. Dr. Harry Sneider, author..
Rating: Summary: Arnold Is a winner and so is his autobiography! Review: Arnold swartzeneger was the greatest bodybuilder of this century ,maybe of all time. This book is an account of his drive to be number one in the sport of body building. The first half of the book depicts arnolds life story. The second half is on weightlifting exercises for bodybuilders, as well as the ins and outs of competitive bodybuilding,(tans, music, posing and what foods to eat). At age 16, After I read the first half of this book ,i was so psyched by arnolds story that I studied over his routines in the second half into the night! I joined a gym the following week! I've bought many weightlifting books since then but i always at some time refer back to this book for motivation and the basics. This book is well written and has clear instructions for the exercises. This would be a great buy for the for adolescent boy or girl in your life!
Rating: Summary: Good Story, Not Good Reference Review: Arnold tells the story of his beginnings, growing up, being in the service, and training around all of these things. Working out in spite of his hectic schedule. Going into the woods for a whole night with a friend and doing 100s of sets of squats, all night long. This book kicks... if you are interested in arnold's life story. If you're looking for a reference guide get the Encyclopedia of Modern Bodybuilding, but if you want to learn more about Arnold then check this out.
Rating: Summary: Somewhat outdated, but some old rules still apply Review: Bodybuilding and the science of weight training has come a long way since this book was published. Arnold outlines a very basic routine and philosophy. I read this 15 years ago, when I first started lifting. I don't agree with everything he says, but I still have tremendous respect for him. Even if you don't bodybuild, you will find the autobiography aspect of the book interesting.
