Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Outstanding Book for Tennis Players
Review: This book helped me more than any other tennis book or tennis article I have ever read. It really teaches you how to win in tennis.

A really must read for anyone who did not grow up playing tennis.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: A win is a win
Review: This book helped me win a lot of matches, beating the guys that I wasn't supposed to beat! The underlying principle is that it doesn't matter how you HIT the ball, but how you PLAY the ball. This book won't tell you anything about how to improve your technique, but it'll sure help you understand what tennis is all about. I heard players saying that the book doesn't teach anything they didn't know before. This might be true, but it is amazing how many of those players simply fail to APPLY Gilbert's ideas. Hitting a soft return to a serve & volleyer is probably something "we already know", but Brad emphasizes that many players are brain-dead when it comes to the match. They don't think how to win points, they just try to smack the ball. Brad's main idea is exactly that: to think when you're on the court. In other words: analyze, recognize and capitalize. Some people might win by putting in use Brad's ideas and still think that it wasn't REAL tennis, or that it's not the way tennis is supposed to be played. Well, all I can do is ask: WHAT DO YOU CARE ABOUT? PLAYING BEAUTIFULLY OR WINNING A TENNIS MATCH? I'd rather win a tennis match.

Summary: Winnig Ugly
Review: This book is essential to understanding the mental and strategic game of tennis. I've recommended this book to both male and female friends,we've all used the strategies Brad easily explains, and have gone on to be "Winning Ugly" champions!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Excellent!
Review: This book is HIGHLY RECCOMENDED. Not only does it improve your tennis skills but it's easy to read to. Instead of giving boring instructions it feeds important mental tennis information in an easy-to-read way. It sounds like a boring topic (the mental game of tennis) but it's actually really interesting.
It gives great tips on how to stay calm during and before matches and it really improves your mental game, over all. Immediatley after reading it, I noticed improvement in my mental game, which also helped my physical game. The book is a must have for all serious tennis players!

Summary: One of the most useful "how-to" books I've ever read
Review: This book is just amaizing: I was only half through it when I started using its recommendations and I started to win games with players who used to beat me routinely. If you feel that you need a boost in your tennis results, get this book. If you are satisfied with your results, get it anyway -- you will be surprised ... and it is a very entertaining reading too.

I'm a recreational player of 3.0 - 3.5 level. My tennis lesson were always about strokes, tosses, serves, etc. This book opened for me the world of the game tactics, strategy and psychology ... and have I mentioned that it is a very entertaining reading too?

Summary: The best way to win at any level
Review: This book tells how to not only win, but to keep from losing. Everyone says change a losing game but this book actually tells you how to do just that. I play USTA league tennis and will read this book before the beginning of each season as a refresher. Bart Sullivan

Summary: Entertaining but nothing an intermediate+ player doesn't kno
Review: This book was rather mediocre in my opinion. It was very good at pointing out the obvious (i.e. try and win the important points). I didn't really need that advice given to me from a book. Also, I was expecting much more of what the title suggests, ways to "win ugly." None of that. I got the lowdown on what points are important, I guess what points you should *really* try on as opposed to *just* trying.

It just didn't do it for me.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Men's Tennis
Review: This book was very helpful for improving my game. I would give the book five (instead of four) stars had it not focused exclusively on men's tennis. For example, in the section about stocking your tennis bag, the suggestion "bring an extra shirt onto the court" obviously does not apply to women and no alternative is suggested. The "Learning From the Legends" chapter does not include a single woman player. Otherwise, it a great book.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: One the best books ever written about tennis
Review: This is a book any serious tennis player cannot afford to miss. If you want to win much more often than you do now or simply want to bring your game to the next level, just read it. Highly recommandable and entertaining.
