Rating: Summary: Fantastic training manual for every horse owner Review: My horses thrive on the training program described in Clicker Training for Your Horse. The book is very clear cut on how to set up a training program for success, no matter what your experience is with horses--beginner or long time owner. I became more clear in my directions to my mare and she began understanding what I actually wanted. She became more confident and successful with every exercise I did. I don't have training help, so this book pretty much saved me from turning this mare into a broodmare. She now enjoys the tasks I ask of her, and is a joy to ride. Over the winter, I taught her and her pasture mate how to play with a large blue rubber ball. Before, the sight alone of the ball would have sent her packing.. what a joy to see her run up to it and push it back to me!!!!!! I recommend this book for every horse owner!!!!
Rating: Summary: Readers are the best reviewers, and here are their comments Review: People have been saying the most wonderful things about my new book, "Clicker Training For Your Horse". Their comments will tell you more about the book than anything I could write. The letters I receive all say the same thing: Clicker training is FUN, and the horses love it! "I want to recommend Alexandra Kurland's new book "Clicker Training For Your Horse" to everyone who rides a horse, works with horses, or is just crazy about horses! This is the easiest to read, comprehend, follow, understand book on horse training that I have read! I usually read training books because of a sense of "duty", not because I enjoy them. I have thoroughly enjoyed this book, and I believe it is going to be a classic in the horse industry. I am just now ordering another copy of the book for my step-daughter who has just bought an Arab filly. This book is something a complete amateur "newbie" can comprehend, follow, and actually train with, but I highly recommend it for those of us that have had horses for years and years. To all of you who haven't read this book yet - do yourself and your horse(s) a favor and order it now. Alexandra's book is the best you'll get, and I have a whole library of horse books - most of which I started, picked through, and never completely read. I AM READING THE CLICKER BOOK FROM COVER TO COVER!!!!! I know I am going to read it again and again - can't say that for any other horse training book that I have ever read before! Thank You Alexandra!" Nancy Degan "Clicker Training For Your Horse is the clearest outline of training's common sense guidelines I have ever encountered. It is *VERY* clear, and applicable to any type of training. . . This is not only a *BIG* training book, it is going to make a real hit, and it will be everywhere before you know it." Panda Meeker "My advice: read the book! I've kept horses for 17 years now, and after reading this book my spontaneous reaction was that it is the best book on horse training that I've ever read - and I've read a lot." Kina Molitor, Sweden "Clicker Training For Your Horse" will make you happy that you did order it. I certainly approve it and now offer it for sale from my store here in McMinnville, OR. It meets all the criteria of intelligent horse training principles and practices." Dexter 'Dex' Welch, Dex's Cowboy Collectibles "I just had to write to let you know how much I am enjoying your book. The chapter on Aggression is fantastic! I haven't gotten so jazzed about a book in a long time. I am so glad that you have written it. I think of all the equines who have been trained using such harsh, inhumane methods. There is hope!!!! I use the clicker for everything! I LOVE IT!!!! The best thing is how much fun it is for both of us! I just can't get over it! There's really no end to what you can use it for, just let your imagination lead you!" Ann Firestone "I have it! It arrived Friday! I've already read half of it. It's FANTASTIC! I agree with those who say every clicker-trainer should buy your book. There's triple-value in it - the clicker-teaching, the philosophy, the lessons in timing, rhythm, observation, lesson-planning - the having the ANIMAL teach you (asking the horse, or other animal)." Carol Whitney, Sooke, B.C., Canada "Alex, WOW! As you might have guessed, the books arrived today... There are so many thoughts spinning in my head right now that I'll try not to babble incessantly (no guarantees) but I just wanted to say WHAT A FANTASTIC BOOK ! You know how when you buy a new book, you usually browse through it a bit before seriously beginning to read? Well, if it's any indication of how good your book is, I kept getting engrossed as I was trying to browse, and would end up reading a whole page or two before reminding myself that I hadn't officially started the book yet! I'm one of those people who compulsively reads every printed word in a book, from imprint to postscript---always in order; but with your book, every page I landed on, I wanted to dive in and start reading right there. Well done! The other indicator of how good this book is, is that despite the chilly/drizzly weather, a toothache, and the fact that I've already put in a full day with the horses, I am jazzed enough after my "browse" through your words to want to go back out to the barn again! And I think I will, right after I finish this." Amy Coffman, Oklahoma
Rating: Summary: It Clicks! Review: This is one of the best horse training books I think I have ever read, and would HIGHLY recommend it. Regardless of discipline, this book gives you the tools to build a positive, dynamic relationship with your horse (or anyother animal). It totally changed the way that I think and work around horses. I was able to teach my 13-yr App gelding to lead(!), bow, Spanish Walk, free-lunge, and many other things. I have reclaimed the minds of two frightened Hackney pony mares, gentled and halter trained a terrified weanling, as well as a 2-yr old Mustang Stallion. I could not be more pleased with this book.
